This is one of the oldest Hampton Inns in which I've stayed. They indicate that they remodeled the property about 10 years ago, but it is certainly showing its age. The lobby/breakfast area is small and cramped, but it is pleasantly furnished. The exterior of the motel certainly indicates its age -- it looks dated. My room was good sized and well furnished but the bathroom had a very distinct "soiled mop" smell. I will say that all the staff members that I came in contact with were pleasant and helpful. A Cracker Barrel and Ruby Tuesday's restaurant are within easy walking distance. This is not a bad choice to make for a I-95 stay, but be aware that it is an older property with an aging appearance.

Florence, S.C. was recommended as a good overnight stop for the family road trip. After looking at a number of the hotel/motels in the area, I settled on Hampton Inn. The price was about $15-$20 more than the cheapest motels but the reviews were far more positive than the cheap motels.
The Hampton Inn was extremely easy to access from I-95. It is on a quarter-mile strip that includes hotels, chain restaurants and gas stations. The gas at that exit is among the cheapest in middle/northern South Carolina, but we were finding gas $.10 cheaper about 50 miles south.
The complex is back from the road behind a Cracker Barrel. We didn't experience any highway noise in our room. The doors open directly to the outside. There were two floors but I did not notice an elevator.
They have a small outdoor pool which is in the center of the U-shaped building. It was clean and well organized with a number of chaise lounges and chairs with umbrella tables. There is a strong metal fence/gate to keep little ones out. They did not have towels by the pool so be sure to bring some from your room.
Breakfast is your basic continental offerings of muffins, bagels, cereal, fruit, etc. While they do offer a "hot breakfast" it is individually-wrapped items like pancakes or egg and sausage biscuits.
You put the wrapped food in a microwave, push the picture on the keypad that corresponds to your selection and wait for it to cook. There are only two microwaves so on a busy morning there can be a bit of a delay. The food area is extremely small and gets cramped easily. However there is a Cracker Barrel in the same parking lot so if you want a real breakfast, it's easy to head over there.
The beds were incredibly comfortable with ample pillows and cozy linens. The bed spreads have a quilt/duvet type of cover, instead of the traditional cardboard bedspreads. The room was clean, especially the bathroom. Our double room had a table and two chairs which made working on the laptop comfortable. The hotel does provide wireless high speed internet - you receive the access code with your room key.
The staff were extremely nice and friendly. When I went to check in they were ready for me and had the room key ready to go. We did have
an issue during our stay where some leftover items were found behind the bed (I was trying to plug in my phone charger). We called the front desk and the staff came at once to remove the item. They said they would speak with Housekeeping in the morning and apologized
profusely for the mistake. When I went to check out in the morning, our bill had been adjusted and we received another apology. Less than a week later, we received a letter in the mail from the hotel manager again expressing her regret.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a clean and comfortable overnight stop or an extended stay if you're in town for an event like a race at Darlington Raceway which is 10 miles up the road.

Spend one night with the wife and two teenage kids on our way to DC. The motel has clean, good size rooms as I was able to blow up two air mattress for the kids to use. They also have a pretty good continental breakfast with some microwavable hot foods, not bad if your in a rush. Plenty of other dinning a options near by.

I was about to hit 3 rather than four....mainly because of the few annoyances, but would rather let others determine if my annoyances would bother them as much.
The room is very small....we had a double (2 double Beds), I measured the room in feet, but lost my notes. Its smaller than average. And they like to have a lot of stuff in the room...aside from two double (as comfortable as the Westin Heavenly) beds with new bedding, there was a small table, two small 'ladies' armchairs, a dresser of drawers with the TV and game controls on top, and next to it was a wooden (cherry) closet for hanging clothes, the iron, the laundry bags...and a table between the beds. (Usually this is built into the room)
Next to the wooden 'closet' was the sink, and directly across was the enlogated toilet and bath combo, with the new bent out shower curtain rods.
Wireless internet acess is free (worked great with the AIRPORT SYSTEM....but didn't take up any room. IT WAS TIGHT. The furniture looks pretty new, and rich....but I'm not sure most folks would need the table and chairs in the middle of the free space. Maybe a wall desk.
The room was clean and fresh. The carpet looked new. The walls were painted in this room.
The A/C is one that is below the window. Ours worked lousey...ie...when compressor was needed, the unit turned on. The A/C stopped completely....so at night, it would start up, then stop...no fan on unless the compressor was demanded. On off on off all PM
No fresh air...windows do not open to the outside.
This is a multilevel building, but has NO ELEVATOR. Be sure you reserve a room on the first floor if you have problems with stairs. Pool and grounds in excellent shape.
Free breakfast was very similiar to the Marriott Fairfields. Fresh fruit (cut up) & whole, cereals, low fat & reg milk, pasteries, packaged hot pancakes or waffles (need to make them at the Fairfield). Still offer the cookies in the PM.
Staff excellent and helpfull. Will help with luggage if needed, Saw no need in this area for security. Right behind the Cracker Barrel & near Ruby Tuesdays..but of course, we went to the Red Bone. Across the street was a RaceTrack gas...fifteen cents cheaper than the others ($2.75 when we stayed). I think RaceTrack is div. of Marathon Oil.
Room footage may have been 15 feet wide and 27 feet long.
But clean, safe, and friendly.... for the price...it rates a 4 IMHO. Others may think its a Hilton, S/B better, but price ($70 approx) comes into the equation, as well.
Would we stay again? Probably, but the Fairfield might get pref.....better points value via MAR than Hilton,, elevated 3 story, closer to Red Bone Alley, and the two shopping Centers, and a bit more room with interior entrances and windows that open.

This is a very good "motel" type Hampton Inn. The beds were comfortable. The grounds were very well kept and while unloading my car, saw security walk the area twice. The room was cramped but clean. The hotel had full occupancy and the breakfast area was slammed at 7:30 am on a Saturday. You could barely get to the food. Went back an hour or so later and there was a place to sit and plenty of food to eat. Overall, a nice place to stay for a night and the staff were very friendly.
