We go out of our way to stay in Hampton's. I like the consistant quality and the beds are always great. This Hampton is not quite up to the level of other Hamptons. The Beds are the same but the hotel has a dated and worn look to the interior. This is still a nice hotel but if you have stayed in other Hamptons you'll know what I mean. Overall we were happy but at the same time we were alittle disappointed.

We did not book this hotel over the internet just because of all the reviews that were written and decided to check it out ourselves. We were surprised to see how nice the hotel was. It was very clean and the staff was great!! We will stay at this hotel everytime we are visiting Fresno.

We have stayed at Hampton Inns in the past and we were pleased, but this was a miserable stay. The room had a very noisy air conditioner, which made sleep impossible. There was also the sound of some sort of compressor that went off regularly all night long. The breakfast the next morning was abominable. The eggs looked like a plastic toy you would find in a child's toy cooking set and tasted about as good. The bagels tasted like they were made with glue. Very dissatisfied

I booked a jacuzzi suite at this hotel, and everything seemed fine. Upon check-in, I was advised that there was a $300 fee for smoking in the room. I told the clerk that wouldn't be a problem as I do not smoke. When I entered the room, I smelt smoke. I went back to the front desk to tell them, since I did not want to be responsible for the charge. They told me not to worry about it. Well sure enough, they charged me the $300 - and no one will take my calls to discuss it. It has been over a month since my stay and this is still unresolved. It is a great example of their customer service.
At this point I am convinced that they charge a large majority of their customers this additional $300 unfairly. This is probably how they make their money, since the rates are fairly inexpensive. If they had been more proactive in resolving this (or even returning my calls) I would not feel this way, but obviously they could care less.
Aside from this horrible overcharging, the hotel is in a remote location in a boring business park. I had problems with the key opening the outside door, and had to keep walking all the way around to the front entrance to get to my room. The noise from the generator was annoying - and from about 7am -11am it sounded like someone was riding a lawnmower outside my window. The room was decent, the jacuzzi small. The jacuzzi was also right next to the bed, which they probably designed hoping that you would get the carpet / bed all wet and they could charge you for that too. I don't think it was worth the extra $ for the jacuzzi.
I would definetly NOT recommend this hotel.

I used to live in Fresno (now in San Diego 20 some years) and come back a few times a year to visit friends. Hotel accomodations are always a challenge. I have stayed at the Picadilly Inn the past several times and tried the Hampton this visit. I was in room 432 , a King bed suite. The bed was comfortable, the room a good size and included a microwave, fridge and bar sink. Internet connection was free and fast. The bathtub, although small, had good water pressure and the bathroom was a good size.
Two things:
1) The hotel is in the middle of a health care/banking/insurance business park area of town. It sits directly off the 41 and is literally surrounded by buildings, highway or major road. Point: no view, no ambiance.
2) The hotel is 4 stories and all the middle rooms on the back side are exposed to a huge generator that goes off every...oh...half hour for a few minutes...all thru the night...and sounds a bit like a low tone fog horn on a cruise ship..a slight rumbling if you will. Not hugely invasive, but noticeable. Point: Ask for rooms in the front of the hotel. Oh and the pool is wire fenced on side of hotel in the parking lot.
It is very close to Kaiser, which would be good for families visiting patients, but if your visit is anything else than functional...I recommend Picadilly Inn - Shaw.
