We stayed at this Hampton Inn for one night on our way home from Montreal. It seems to be an older hotel, the room was a little small, the fixtures seemed a little old. However, everything seemed clean, the breakfast was good. The pool was small, but great for kids. Check in was very fast. We were in room 413, on the side of the hotel away from I-90, and it was very quiet. Overall, we were very happy with our brief stay at this hotel.

I stayed at the Hampton, Erie on April 18th with my husband and 2 year old and paid $123 for a standard room with 2 double beds. Overall the experience was positive though I doubt I would stay here again. We checked in very late - the clerk was courteous and the process speedy. The room was spacious, though I imagine it would be tough to fit another adult with luggage in the room. The breakfast was nice - a large selection with two hot entrees. We had two issues with the hotel however. Our room backed up to the highway so we could hear the traffic all night - it made for a restless night. I would assume this is merely an issue for those rooms on the backside of the hotel. The more important issue for me was the filthy bathtub. I cleaned it myself with shampoo and a face cloth prior to using and was able to get it clean enough to use. I mentioned the dirty bathtub to the counter clerk and was told that what I found in my tub was likely just old cleaning products - which, in my opinion really isn't much better. I've stayed at Hamptons in the past and had expectations of this stay that just weren't met.

We stayed for one night recently when meeting family. We were disappointed that they did not have any 2 Queen rooms, like other similar hotels, as we were 4 adults, one child, and an infant, but took their 2 Double Room as the price was reasonable. We were provided a rolling bed for my nephew and we made it work. Here are my brief comments on the place:
POSITIVES:
Rooms were clean.
Hotel located near many restaurants and shopping.
Good breakfast - better than similar places, as it has hot and savory items.
Free Wireless High-speed Internet provided.
Friendly, helpful staff.
NEGATIVES:
Hotel located right on Interstate, and could get noisy, depending on location in building.
Room was very small for a 2 Double configuration, hardly any space for luggage, especially with the roll-away bed (partly our fault for packing the room, but just recently we were in a nearby hotel with a much larger room).
Had trouble getting enough towels.
Indoor pool was small, and crowded when we were there, and cooler than we would have liked.
Overall it was an average stay. We would stay there again, but not if we needed a 4+ person room.

I usually stay in Hampton Inns when I travel for work, and sometimes even when on vacation if we don't stay in a B&B. I am very satisfied with the chain overall.
When I arrived at this Hampton, I was pleased with the hotel, it looks just like your typical Hampton. It is on the highway - the rooms overlook the road or the parking lot - but for business travel, fine. My room (on the first floor, I believe it was 105) was much larger than your average Hampton room, and so was the bathroom, with a large countertop. Very nice.
*** However, none of this was worth my sleepless night. The air conditioners at the Erie Hampton are somehow equipped to shut themselves off after they have been running for just a short while - a half hour or so. After that, they don't automatically turn back on until the room is quite hot and stuffy again. There is a fan option that will stay on all through the night, but that was not sufficient for the night I stayed. The day I arrived it was 85, and the following day was 90, so the night I stayed was quite hot.
I kept waking up when the air conditioner turned itself off, either because it was instantly hot and stuffy, or because the machine was so loud, the noise of it turning on and off can wake you. I would then sit by the air conditioner which read something like "wait two minutes after shut-off before turning back on". After about two minutes, it would permit me to force it back on.
That was my night - up every half hour or hour, hot and sticky all night.
Bottom line: Otherwise, the hotel is fine, but DO NOT STAY HERE IN THE SUMMER!

My husband and I fled to Erie in the wake of a bad flood in our town, so we only made reservations the night before to stay at this Hampton. Nevertheless, when we arrived the next afternoon, we were (rather rudely) told that our reservation for a King non-smoking room had been cancelled. I asked if my credit card # had been rejected, but was told that, no, I had personally called and cancelled the reservation the night before at 11:15 p.m. I had certainly NOT cancelled the reservation and was in fact asleep at the time I was "supposed" to have called. If I'd had my wits about me, I would have immediately called the Country Inn and Suites or Microtel nearby to see if they had rooms available. Instead, I took the room with 2 double beds she offered me. Desk clerk never apologized and in fact got snotty with me when I requested a room on the side of the hotel away from the interstate. While the room we got was clean and typically Hampton, it had those cursed connecting doors, which do nothing but let in sound from the next room. The hotel is built practically on top of I-90, so I would encourage you to request a room away from the interstate if you have to stay here. Even away from the interstate, we heard noise all night long from cars in the parking lot, construction, nearby busy street, etc.
In the interest of fairness, the hotel is clean and nicely kept up. It has a large breakfast room (VERY crowded in the morning) and they offer hot popcorn and cookies in the afternoon. The pool and exercise room looked inviting; there is a computer and printer for hotel guests located in the lobby/breakfast area. There are about a million eating and shopping options within a few minutes of the hotel, although the traffic is heavy. It is also very close to some indoor water park that I'm sure is a hit with children.
The noise and rude customer service is not what I expect from a Hampton Inn, and I'd encourage future travelers to think about other nearby hotels if you want to stay in this area.
