In this day and age when average service is expected we were pleasantly surprised to receive exceptional service from each and every member of this hotel's staff. We chose the Hampton as it was directly across from the Columbus Convention Center.
Each staff member we encountered made us feel welcome!

I took a shuttle from the airport to this hotel, I did not have to park a vehicle, so I cannot comment on the Valet service. I found this to be a very nice location. Directly across from the Convention Center and within walking distance of numerous restaurants and pubs. My fellow travelers and I enjoyed walking to the Short North area, directly down the street. Several cute artsy shops, restaurants, coffee shops.
We ate at Martini's twice, located one block up the street from the hotel. We found the food to be fantastic and service great, very pleasant servers, open kitchen. everything from spahetti and meatballs to mussels and hamburgers. Also ate at Mojoes and Barley Brewery I would recommend both of these. Can't complain about any place we frequented.
The two doormen we encountered during our stay were both extremely polite, always smiling. All the desk personel were extremely helpful and courteous. Rooms were clean and decent sized, beds comfortable for a hotel. I heard no noise outside my door.
I felt safe walking in the neighborhood at night, bars were close by and lively.
It was a good experiance staying at this hotel, I would recommend it.

In town on business, this was my first stay at a Hampton Inn. I didn't choose the hotel - and didn't pay for it either. The hotel is located right downtown across from the convention center and adjacent to the Short North entertainment/arts district.
I pulled up and found that the only hotel parking is valet. The valet parking fee is $21 a night with in/out privileges. My arrival was around 5:30pm and the two valets were hustling. There were three cars ahead of me and I was told to park along the street and they'd move my car inside soon. I left the keys with the valet and grabbed my briefcase and bag out of the trunk. I've valet parked many times and never had a problem. I usually throw my valet key in my briefcase before heading out but this time I forgot and that was a bit of a problem. I walked inside and there was a small line at front desk as the two agents processed guests. Of course, as usual, one of the guests had some sort of issue which tied things up for everyone else.
When they got to me it took about thirty seconds for them to take an imprint, make a key and give me an internet passcode. Upstairs I found a rather pleasant and comfortable room - nicer than I had expected. The bed was comfortable with a nice white comforter on top and I slept very well.
The tv is in a cabinet - not a plasma - but the channel selection was impressive. I had wanted to watch a program that night on BBC American and figured I'd be out of luck. But sure enough, they had BBC American on the system with about 80 other channels. Not bad.
I walked a block up High Street and had a drink and dinner at the Hyde Park Steak House - and noted there is a Starbucks just a block further up.
Coming back to the hotel - a couple of hours later - the message light on the phone was lit. I called and got a message from the front desk asking if I had the keys to my car. Ugh. I put on my coat and headed back outside to find my year old Volvo still sitting where I'd left it - unlocked yet being watched by the valet staff. What happened? The valets said they couldn't find my keys. I specifically told the one valet I handed my keys to that I had to ask him to unlock the back doors to grab a bag. I think this jarred his memory but still no keys. I asked to see their key box to figure out if I could find my keys. Opening it up, I found another set that looked identical, but were for another car. I asked what they were going to do, especially since I had a 9am meeting across town and didn't want my car sitting outside all night - unlocked. They said they would look through the other cars and see if they could find the keys.
I went back upstairs to try and relax. No point in hanging out or getting mad - and hoped for the best. If nothing else, I'd have to call Volvo Assist in the morning and see if the local dealer could get me a spare key made. An hour later I decided to go back down stairs to check on the situation. Walking outside, I found the hotel garage door closed and my car was no where to be found. I knocked on the valet door. They had found the keys [in another car] and my car was safe and parked in the garage. Finally, some peace. What ticked me off was the valets had told the front desk to call me and let me know; but the call never came through.
The next morning I left and the car was brought up with no problems. I checked out and the door man was very friendly and positive. I headed to my meeting and that was that.
Towards the end of the day, it was clear that driving three hours home was a bad idea. It was snowing, roads were icy and the thought of heading east into the mountains starting at 8pm didn't appeal. So, I stayed again. I checked their online site and it said no rooms available. I called and the front desk said they had one room left. I took it; showed up and was again in my room in about sixty seconds. The valet was very pleasant and considering the weather, I decided to walk up to Hyde Park for a late dinner at the bar. I ended up sleeping late - undisturbed - and checked out at 11:30am Saturday morning.
All in all, not a bad stay. If I hadn't had the missing car key concerns, I'd up the review. But despite the frustration with valet, I'd return here. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel recently and came away impressed. It's location in the Arena District was the primary selling point to us as we were looking for a place to stay after a night of gallery and bar hopping in the Short North area. It is a fairly new hotel and is still in very good shape - no noticeable wear and tear as far as we could tell. The rooms are typical Hampton Inn and provide good value for the dollar. The hotel staff was very friendly during all of our interactions and the door/bell man was extremely attentive. The only negative is the parking situation - you are forced to valet park at a cost of around $20/night. This seems a bit expensive but given the downtown location, you are basically forced to utilize the hotel's parking service. Overall, this is a typical solid Hampton Inn property and we would definitely stay here again when visiting downtown Columbus.

We arrived on a saturday and just stayed one night. The service was decent and the hotel room was clean and nice, but when we dropped the car off at the valet there was a small package of things that my wife had purchaced that day left on the floor in the back seat. In the morning we collected the car and drove straight home to Cincinnati. While unloading we noticed that this package was missing! I don't know if the car was left unlocked or what may have happened, but I wouldn't leave anything to chance with their valet parking. The loss of theese items will cause me to never stay here or any other hotel that has valet only parking.
