The Hampton Inn is convenient, however, there is not getting around the price. This is a massive rip-off. The hotel is not near anything. I pay this rate for midtown Manhattan, and get more amenities. The towels cannot wrap around your waste, the rooms are the size of a shack, the cars park outside your window, and you pay over $250 for the base room. I do not need much, but I would at least have liked more than bagels or cereal for the buffet breakfast (no eggs, no waffles, no juice- just small cereal packets and a bin of bagels).

A nice hotel not too far from town and close to the Interstate. Comfortable, clean rooms. But as someone else mentioned, full of families whose children are participating in sporting events nearby, which can be noisy. And since it is about the only place in town, the rates go up quite high for its class when the season is in full swing, which it was the day we stayed.
Breakfast was fine and typical Hampton Inn. The front desk was very friendly and helpful, even though they were quite busy. Not many places to eat and none are nearby, but the drive into town is straight and easy.

As with all the Hampton Inns I've been to, I was very pleased with this hotel. Beds and rooms are very comfortable and clean. A warning however - during the summer the hotel is taken over by families whose pre-teen boys are participating in one of the many baseball tournaments in the area. Don't even think you can get a peaceful swim in the pool. In the evening, the lobby is flooded with little boys since there's not much to do at night in Oneonta! I thought it was funny - but for the older or single traveller, it may be a little much.

I used to live in the Oneonta area and visit several times a year now, after staying at a couple of different hotels I've come to find the Hampton as the best choice currently in Oneonta. I understand a new Marriot courtyard will be built in 2008 that may compete.
The Hampton has comfortable clean rooms, a nice pool and hot tub. The location isnt good if you want to walk to anything but its by far the best hotel in Oneonta. Dont waste your money at the Holiday Inn, disgusting, dirty and smells like cigarettes.

Paper Thin Walls in this Hotel !

Very disappointing for what's usually a good nights sleep at a Hampton Inn. We arrived late on Friday night, check in went great and the roll away bed we requested was already in the room.
We are a family of four and went straight to bed after a long drive to up state NY. We were awake a lot of the night hearing two people talking next door. They were talking loudly but still, it was talking, they were not partying. The walls were paper thin! We could actually hear what they were saying, almost every word! If that wasn't loud enough, the doors in the hallway kept slamming every time someone went in or out. When we arrived our son let go of our door and it slammed and we all were very surprised and blamed it him not realizing they just slam! Slamming doors and people talking went on until about 1:30-2:00 and started all over again around 6 in the morning. We've stayed in a lot of hotels and these doors were unlike any others as far as noise and the walls were thinner than a cheap hotel!
Breakfast was okay at best, nothing to get excited about unless you want to eat nothing but danish, bagels, bread and more ways to serve carbs! The "hot" items were, one something we couldn't identify, looked like wallpaper paste and glue??? The other item was sausage patties.
The second night was worse than the first. The next door neighbors had changed to three young guys who were up ALL NIGHT and spoke very very loud and laughing and having a great time. The noise went on until past 4 in the morning!! They went back and forth to their friends room all night and yep, you guested it; more slammming doors! Once again we could hear what they were saying and didn't get any sleep that night.
The breakfast on Sunday was horrible, the french toast sticks they put in after they ran out of waffles and after my son waited a long time for were still frozen in the center.
We will not be returning to the Oneonta Hampton Inn, I don't think they can fix those thin walls any time soon! The slamming doors, well maybe they can fix those! We were exhausted the entire weekend!
