I stay at this hotel 3-4 times a year due to business travel. However, the room on this stay was somewhat disappointing. Easy chair and accompanying ottoman were very dirty and needed shampooing. Carpet in room could also use some shampoo. Comforter on bed was in need of a run through a washing machine due to stains, but sheets seemed clean and crisp. Bathroom good. Now more local hotel alternatives are making me look at other options (Hilton Garden Inn right around corner).

I stayed at this Hampton Inn in mid February 2008. There was a major snow and ice storm the day before, so there was no cable TV service or Internet service until 10pm. That is totally ok. I understand that. However, what I don't understand is the attitude of the staff and lack of a tiny bit of a smile.
My room was generally clean, except that it seemed like they rushed through the bathroom. When I arrived at the check in, front desk staff looked like they hated being there. There was not a single smile or nice word coming out of their mouth. They just rushed me through the check-in and kicked me to my room.
Breakfast in this hotel was far below Hampton Inn standards. Some stuff was not fresh at all, and the breakfast items were packed in two small counters. Only good thing was the fresh warm cookies they make around 5pm every day. Yummy!
I probably won't return here again. There are other Hampton Inns in the area, and they are much better - at least they smile at you when you walk towards the front desk!

We had stayed at other Hampton Inn's in the past and had been very satisfied, so when thinking of spending a weekend in Newburgh it was a nobrainer : Hampton's Inn. My wife and kids were happy with the choice.
From the beginning, the front-desk staff was polite but not as accomodating as in other Hampton's. The room heater was noisy and I had problems trying to sleep on the hard pillows.
To make things worse, we were awakened at about 3 am on Saturday night by an alarm and subsequent phone call from the front desk, asking us to get out of our rooms and into the hallway immediately. An interior water pipe had burst and there had been flooding 20 yards from our room.
Water was pouring from the ceiling and the hallway was starting to become flooded, when we were rushed to get out of our rooms and into the hallway, which was flooded.
The only way to get to the front desk was by walking outdoors through the parking lot at the back of the hotel, and into the front lobby. Needless to say, having to do this at 3 am, my family was not happy anymore.
We had to do this twice. Once to go to the front desk to find out what had happened and what they were doing to fix the problem. I don't know exactly the details but water kept pouring down the ceiling for a long time, even after we went back the second time to pick up our luggage and move to another room.
The heater on the 2nd room was as noisy as the 1st one and the pillows as hard, so I could hardly sleep at all, specially when I could hear a distant-sounding alarm in the background for the longest time.
This was the least restful night I've had in a long time, and nobody at the hotel ever showed an ounce of concern about our stay or the disruption we went through.
Of course, when I got up the bill was faithfully waiting for me and at breakfast time, it was business as usual.
At least that part was up to Hampton's standards.

One of the Worst Hampton Hotels
Guest name: downtowndickbrown, NYC
I've usually enjoyed my stays at Hampton Hotels but this was the worst one ever and a major disappointment. We requested a non-smoking room when we made our reservation and when we got there we were given a smelly tiny room. The reservation desk said that they did not have any other rooms left. Housekeeping brought up an old air ionizer to use in the room but it was so old and rusty that we did not use it. The room itself was tiny and very cheaply done. I was shocked since usually the Hampton Inn's we've stayed at had decent rooms. The beds were uncomfortable and the TV was awful. There are not many choices of where to stay in Newburgh but I would avoid this hotel.
I also filled out a survey for Hampton Hotels and received no reply.
