Stayed here three nights in April, 2008. It was mostly a pleasant experience. Since it's a refurbished cotton factory it has a unique ambiance, different from most Hampton Inns. We paid $145/night, plus various taxes and overpriced parking (see below).
We had a large corner room with two double beds (wish they had been queen's) and a pull out sofa. This worked well for my wife and I and our two teenagers. Breakfast was the usual Hampton Inn fare, but it's included in the price, so acceptable. The bar and pool are small, but just fine. The workout room is a cut above most of these places in that it also includes free weights. A plus in my estimation.
This would be the perfect place to stay if attending a conference at the Conference Center. It's right next to it. But if you want to spend lots of time in the French Quarter, you may want to get a bit closer. Not that this hotel is far away, but after a big meal and some wine, the walk back to the hotel is just a bit far. And, I wouldn't want to walk it at night. Taxis ran us about $10 one way, including tip. Not too bad.
My only real gripe is the outrageous charge for parking: $30 (well, $27 + $3 tax). This is valet parking, but you really have little choice. You can park on the street (good luck) or they have a small parking lot behind the hotel. "It's not secured, though," they told me. I agreed to the valet parking without knowing the cost. Caveat Emptor!
And, BTW, I recommend the swamp tour.

We stayed here while my husband attended the ASCD conference. We asked for a room with a pullout bed for our daughter and we received an amazing suite. The room was lovely, the maids were so friendly and responsive to our requests. The front desk staff were so helpful with info on public transportation, restaurants, etc. The convention center was right across the street, the streetcar was a short walk, and our area of town was quiet and pretty, right across from the river. Add to that breakfast provided every morning, included in the room price, and a gorgeous lobby, workout room and washing machines available for guests, and we really enjoyed our stay!

This is a nice hotel with comfy beds and a free continental breakfast that was very nice (hot foods, bagels, fruit, cereal, french toast...etc). The rooms were clean and it was quiet.
Our room had a fridge and microwave. The hotel has a a little market with ice cream, lean cuisines, pop, etc... overpriced food, but it was convenient when arriving late from the airport. They also have complimentary cookies and coffee in the evenings. The Warehouse Deli they advertise has been closed since Katrina. There is a simple bar/restaurant, Dino's, a block away that had good food for lunch. There is a mini-mart about 10 minutes walk to buy popcorn, snacks, drinks, etc at somewhat more reasonable prices.
This is an excellent location for those attending conferences at the convention center. It is a 15 minute (easy/flat) walk to the Hilton Riverside, The Riverwalk Mall, Harrah's, Canal Street, etc. It's also about a 15 minute walk to the St. Charles Streetcar.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel - we spent New Year's Eve at the hotel (which was also the night before the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans). The hotel was at 100% capacity and they still functioned effectively and it was amazingly quiet due to the festivities.
The location is across the street from the convention center and a short walk (15 minutes) through the Warehouse district to the French Quarter. There were restaurants and bars within easy walks (a few blocks) - the negihborhood felt safe.
Our room was clean and well kept, but obviously someone had been smoking in it (even though it was a non-smoking room).
The front desk staff were very friendly and there was a very nice free continental breakfast.
The only negative was the parking fees - valet only at over $25 a night (I think it was $28?). Although, there was a flat lot (privately run) behind the hotel that we were able to self-park for $15 a night.
I would definitely stay here again - great hotel!!!

Stayed 2 weeks - Xmas and New Years. Wonderful, quiet, location in Warehouse District which we might have not explored so thouroghly if this wasnt the only hotel I could find last minute! (Sugarbowl? What Sugarbowl...) Nice & helpful staff and check out Dino's Bar & Grill down the street. 20 minute safe walk to Jackson Square, French Quarter (day or nite) or Superdome (day only). Not your average Hampton as it truly is in a renovated warhouse. Give it a try if you want something not inside FQ crazy, but close enuf to hoof it to the FQ action
