We stopped here after a long day of driving. We did not have a reservation. I was told they did not have a room available. But, after some fancy computer work, the women behind the desk was able to find us a room. She was very friendly and very helpful and I was thankful for her diligence in finding us a room. The hotel was very clean and looked great. The pool looked nice, but small. Our room was great, very clean and soft beds. The one problem we had was with the AC unit. It was very loud when it came on. It woke me up a couple times during the night. We were only staying for one night so I didn't bother the front desk with it. Breakfast the next morning was great. The usual items were available.

My husband, son, and I stayed here for two nights this past weekend. The hotel is excellent and we'll likely use them again for future Memphis trips. The staff at this hotel is absolutely wonderful--extremely friendly and helpful at any time of day or night--and just did everything they could to make sure our stay was a good one. We needed extra towels b/c of a room change, and they gave them to us quickly when requested, no questions asked.
The suite itself has a living area/kitchen with a couch (pull out bed), chair, coffee and end tables, TV, kitchen table with 2 chairs, small sink, refrigerator, stove top, microwave, dishwasher, and some dishes and silverware. There are doors that separate the living area from the bedroom. Our bedroom had a king bed, desk, chair, TV, lamp tables, alarm clock, and then the bathroom. The tub and toilet were separate from the sink/vanity area.
The room was extremely clean and had everything we needed. We actually started out in one room and had to move the following morning. Our first room's A/C unit was very noisy when it kicked on and we think it woke our son up frequently throughout the night. We should have asked to move when we first noticed after checking in, but it was late, we were tired, and I thought it wouldn't be such a big deal. I was wrong! Luckily, the staff was extremely accommodating and gave us another room right away the following morning (very early--7 a.m.). We moved to a corner room down the hall, which was a little bigger and had a very quiet A/C. We actually had that corner to ourselves, with no rooms around us. I think we'll request it for future visits!
The breakfast is good--a little above standard "free" breakfast fare. There were biscuits, gravy, and some eggs along with muffins, bagels, cereals, fruit, coffee cake, hot tea, coffee, and juices. There may have been a few more items that I just didn't catch. The kitchen area is very nice and large and there is a lot of seating in the lounge/breakfast area. They also have trays available so you can easily bring food back up to the rooms.
This hotel is located on Shady Grove, which is right off of Poplar. It's actually next to the Embassy Suites. The hotel has a small pool with several lounge chairs around it and towels are kept by the pool. There is also a patio type area with tables with umbrellas and chairs.
The location--it's good. You have easy access to Poplar, and in either direction, there are lots of restaurants, stores for shopping, etc. It's also easy to get to 240 and other areas of Memphis. We went to the zoo while in town and it was an easy and quick drive using 240 and Sam Cooper Blvd. as opposed to driving all the way down Poplar.
We got a great rate for our room--$109/night. We were very happy about this since we payed about $40.00 more last summer when we stayed at the Embassy Suites. While the ES has a good cooked to order breakfast, we don't feel it's worth the extra money--not with these suites available. We'll gladly stay here again.

We hosted a company meeting for 47 people at this hotel. Rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was very accommodating before and during our meeting. There were no mis-haps. The catered food from Frank Grisanti's was very good. The area was very "safe" around the hotel -- in fact the President of Fed Ex lives within a block of the hotel! Very nice restaurants surround the hotel.
It was an easy drive to the downtown area and the airport shuttle was easy to catch.
We'd happily host another meeting there again!

I stayed in this hotel for work while in Memphis. I live on the road and because of some flight mix ups, I ended up getting to Memphis on Saturday instead of my normal Monday. There was some sort of girls soccer tournament in the area. My first room was next to a smoker. Even though the entire hotel is smoke free. The rooms have those doors between the rooms. I was getting all sort of smoke in my room. At 9pm I called down and the staff was nice enough to move me even with all the soccer girls. Unfortunately, my new room was next to the mothers of these girls. Woman that never get out and were living it up a bit next door with wine and their door lock turned so people could come and go as they pleases. BANG! BANG! Again you can hear everything because of the doors between the rooms. I called down at midnight and asked if the front desk could ask them to be quiet. Five minutes later all was good. GREAT STAFF!!! Sunday night once all the soccer people were gone it was great. My only complaint was that I was on the first floor. The office for the remodel that is happening is also on the first floor so at 6am you get the BANG! BANG! again. Since they turn the lock so the workers can come and go as they please. Now I was up anyway getting ready for work but if you want to sleep in I could see this being a problem. I would just get a room not on the first floor. Hotel is clean, has nice beds and the breakfast was standard fare for a Hampton. It is better than most breakfast. As a single woman traveling alone I didn't like having the construction office by my room. I would have preferred to be on another floor. However, already moved once and I wasn't going to move again.

We just returned from a stay at the Shady Grove Hampton Inn. We had never stayed at a Hampton Inn before, but decided to give it a try based on the really nice reviews posted here. We arrived around a little after three and had reserved one of the suite rooms. No suite rooms were available and would not be available for around one hour. Check-in was very nice and offered us a regular room instead which we took. Went to our room, dropped our luggage and immediately heard the sound of drills and hammering. It was like the Travelocity commercial running right now where the couple is trying to talk, and everytime the husband opens his mouth, he is drowned out by the sound of construction. We decided to leave and get something to eat. Came back around six and the noise was over. The room was clean, but had problems. One of the lights in the bathroom did not work and one of the sink faucets turned the regular way and one turned the other way. The bed was wonderful. They just upgraded to the new sertas which are similar to the heavenly beds in the Westins. The bed was actually more comfortable than the heavenly beds. When we went downstairs the next day, I asked about the noise. They are undergoing a renovation. They planned to work nonstop through the weekend in that they had time constraints to finish. I nicely asked the woman at the front desk why they did not inform people of the renovation where the reservations were called in. She very honestly told me that no one would stay there if they told people. She was right. She said the renovations stop around five pm. We made sure we stayed out of the room from nine to until around six. The breakfasts were plentiful and varied. The pool is outdoors, so it wasn't open. The lobby is very nice. Would I stay here again. I doubt it. We paid a little over $150.00 per night for a room that we couldn't stay in until after six. There is no bar. The air conditioner just kept the room cool, and it wasn't hot during our stay. The doors vibrate when someone else in the hall closes their door. I think you could get better for your money. By the way, the people who refer to the restaurant at the Embassy, are dead on. Beautiful with very nice servers. Corkies is close by also.
