We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn Lynchburg for a long weekend. After reading many of the reviews I was very apprehensive based on the comments by others.
What a wonderful experience we had, needless to say there was not any saggy beds, tattered box springs, moldy bathrooms or incompetent staff.
Instead, our room was quite lovely, not a huge room but then this is not what they advertised. The beds were not brand new but you could not tell as they were very comfortable with crisp sheets and piled with fluffy pillows and blankets.
There was a nice sitting area, not huge but another sitting alternative, the bathroom had loads of fluffy white towels, water pressure was great and an assortment of soaps and lotions.
The air conditioning was a bit noisy, but if you adjusted it just the right way there was very little noise.
Each morning there was a nice breakfast available at 5:30am with coffee, (many choices) fruit salad and individual fruit, bagels, danish, muffins, eggs, sausage, biscuits, cereals, and juices. It was nice to walk down early and grab a cup of coffee and head back to the room. If I had paid more attention when we arrived, I would have noticed that the Hampton Inn also provides room service, which for me is always a plus.
The staff was so polite, courteous, helpful and accommodating. I actually left a pair of sandals at the hotel, when I called them on Monday to report this. The immediately located them and offered to ship them to me.
I'm not sure of the other reviewers comments regarding the Hampton Inn, but if you are looking for a nice, clean, comfortable and pleasant experience try the Hampton, it's not the Plaza in New York, but then I wouldn't expect it to be.

#1 - FREE BREAKFAST!!
#2 - best beds... have stayed at Courtyard & Days Inn recently, but this Hampton Inn has great beds... unless you like sinking into the middle of the bed. : - )
#3 - best hotel if you're a smoker, staying with a non-smoker... I'm a non-smoker, my mom smokes (alot), we stay here when we visit family in Lynchburg. I prefer hotels w/an inside corridor if travelling by myself or w/my husband, but due to the outside corridors, mom can just pop out the front door & smoke. Courtyard is entirely smoke free (no smoking on mini-balconies, etc) and makes you leave the entire building, tough if you smoke & are on the 3rd floor. Days Inn lets you smoke on the mini-balconies but the beds were too soft and very slightly damp.
ASK ABOUT THE **EASY** WAY TO GET ONTO 501 SOUTH (secret entrance, kinda)
HAM'S RESTAURANT (burgers, ribs, etc) is in the very next parking lot

Booked this Hampton Inn after staying at the one in Colchester VT on several occasions. They are like night and day. I agree with the review that likened this one to a Motel 6. Beds were old and sagging with torn sheets and frayed boxspring. Shower curtain made bathroom smell of mold. Dissappointing after staying in Colchester (for less money) which had the feeling of an upscale ski lodge.

Rooms okay
Reservation was incorrectly made by Hilton. Although this was not the properties fault they were no help in resolving the problem. Hilton reservations and property staff wound around each other for 24 hours or so getting more and more confused until I was forced to take a middle man position and sort it out myself.
I asked for my points to be returned under the 100% Hampton gurantee - they refused.
Definitely the worst attitude staff I have encountered - management to front desk. Stay away.
Which is sort of a shame because the room itself was okay for this grade of property

I use this board alot and usually consult it...however I figured a Hampton Inn is a Hampton Inn ..etc... and made a reservation at the Lynchburg one before checking the board. Needless to say, I was dreading our stay after checking previous reviews. Happily, we had a good experience ... it is under new management, owned and run by the same people who run the Holiday Inn next door. Rooms were very clean, comfortable new bed, quite quiet despite exterior door (perhaps they also did some soundproofing). Staff was cheerful and polite, despite being completely booked for the weekend (college graduations). Breakfast was standard motel fare, but they kept everything in good supply. Location is very good. I would stay there again.
