I have stayed at this property on 2 occasions. The first was just over a year ago. We were placed in a room with a leaky roof. I didn't notice until the next morning when I found the "popcorn" from the cieling had flaked off all over our suitcase and clothes. To their credit, they did refund the room charge but some of our clothes were ruined.
The second occasion was mid January, '08. We stayed for 2 nights. We returned to the hotel about 7:30 pm. It was cold and my daughter wanted some hot chocolate. I have never been to a Hampton that did not have coffee, tea and hot chocolate available at all times. In fact, most have either fruit or cookies in the evening. When we arrived, there was no hot chocolate, no coffee....not even hot water and tea bags! I told the front desk but she explained in the nicest way possible that management locked all of the supplies after breakfast was served. Once the coffee and other supplies ran out, they had no way to replenish. We were there for a sporting event and had filled the hotel. Yet, they had made no allowance to have these basic niceties available for a bigger crowd. I brought this to the attention of the manager via Hilton's website. I asked what was being done to correct it. The response...they refunded one night but no answer as to how the problem would be corrected. I guess they aren't interested in my business.
I definitely got the feeling that it was a cost control measure. Even though guests at a Hampton have been conditioned to expect these items, this property refuses to restock after the initial amount is exhausted.
The property is in OK condition (except for the leaky roof in one room) but the cheap attitude of the management/owner really made me mad.
Even though I am a long time Hilton customer and a Diamond member of HHonors, I will avoid this particular property. There are other options nearby.

we stayed at the hampton inn two nights and enjoyed everything about the hotel and the staff. they were very helpful and provided whatever information we needed. we had been traveling for several days so we decided to stay an extra day just to rest up and unwind a bit. The breakfast was very good and the coffee was excellant- being a coffee lover I like the idea of coffee and tea being available 24 hours a day in the lobby. The room was very clean and very comfortable, and even thou its close to the highways it was quiet so had no problem sleeping.
It's Adequate for a Small Town

We stayed at this facility in mid-July; it is okay for a short stay. The rooms are average but have a musty smell (not sure if it was the carpet or the air conditioning). The bathtub had a lot of mold on the caulking and around the soap dish. They provide a continental breakfast in the morning, the food is average, nothing special, it could have been fresher--the coffee was very good. Overall the place could have been cleaner but it wasn't bad. The staff was friendly and efficient. Not sure we would stay here again but in a small town like Laurel your options are limited.
Fairly new hotel with great service...

We stayed at this hotel back in August while traveling to New Orleans and it was definately a pleasant suprise. The property is only probably 2 years old and everything is up to date. We've stayed at Hampton Inns several times on vacations and they are usually nice clean properties, but this one went far beyond that. For a hotel that only charged us $55 a night the rooms were larger than many other hotels, refrigerator and microwaves in the rooms, and very nice furniture. The pool area in the back was clean, away from the main road, and best of all very warm. The free breakfast consisted of bagels, waffles, toast, eggs, and several other hot items in additional to the usual coffee, cereal, and donuts.
The staff also was very friendly and gave us directions to several good area restaurants. And while the hotel sits right off a main road as well as the interstate, you don't hear any noise at all and it very private for its location. Everything was perfect, and we'll definately stay there again we head back down to NO.
