Quiet simply, the rooms are extremely dirty and the furniture and fixtures are run down and not well maintained.
The bathrooms are horrible and not sanitary at all. The desk chair was so stained and dirty that I sat on towels. The carpet appears to have never been cleaned since it was put down. The smoke smell in my non-smoking room penetrated my clothes and my luggage.
As mentioned by another reviewer, the breakfast is the cheapest quality of any hotels that I have stayed.
If you choose Hampton for a quality product at a fair price, then don't stay here. If you want to pay a premium price for a less than budget quality room, then.......

The room itself was just OK. The chair was comfortable, there was adequate lighting. The bed was GREAT and they gave me a choice of pillows (I like the small, flat one the best). The breakfast was crummy-- don't count it in as a perk. The coffee in the room (and at breakfast) was weak and cheap. The "free" apples were soft and old. Lots of smoke (first floor is the smoking floor, so you have to wade though the haze to get to the pool and work-out room). The Fitness Center (!) has a treadmill, a bike, and an elliptical machine. Oh, and a TV and some towels. So, not a terrible place, but not a particularly good value.

We booked 2 rooms for a total of 3 nights in this hotel over the 4th of July. While the staff were all very friendly and accomodating the rooms were in need of a definite facelift. Our initial room was an extremely small standard. It contained a King size bed , a large easy chair with ottoman and a desk with chair. The easy chair and ottoman were in front of the closet and was not accessible as there was no other place for the chair to move to. The bed sunk in the middle when two people slept in it and was very uncomfortable. The bathroom was not very clean as it had coffee spilled on the wall above the waste basket. The tub looked as if it had been sanded on the bottom but still had a large area where the enamel was missing on the bottom. The tiles were cracked. Outside in the hallway the carpet was very worn. The next day we asked the Manager if we could have a room with a more comfortable bed where we could access the closet and he said that all of the standard rooms were that way. The Manager then upgraded us to a King size sofa room at the same price as the standard. This room was much larger with access to the closet. It also had one of the new beds that Hampton has been advertising with a down comforter. We also upgraded the second room we were renting and that room was just as spacious but had one of the older beds. As far as the breakfast goes I would say it is one of the better ones we have had at hotels. They had scrambled eggs, sausages, hot biscuits and gravy, yogurts, fresh fruit, cold and hot cereals, juices and excellent coffee. We are planning on returning to Lexington next year and are unsure whether we will stay here again.

Love it!

I love this hotel. The beds are so soft that I sleep great. The staff is friendly and helpful. You really do feel like a guest here, not like just another customer, if that makes any sense. I like the location, too. It's convenient to all the Lexington horse locales, plus it's an easy hop and a skip to the restaurants and shopping of Nicholasville Road. A new Kroger (supermarket) is past the hotel. Lots of places to eat are nearby. I have stayed here before. I will definitely be back.
