Not Hampton Inn's best

We have a very high regard for Hampton Inns and have had great experiences at their hotels in the past. The Hampton Inn in Jefferson City, MO, did not live up to our expectations.
While the rooms were spacious, they seemed a bit worn and tired. For example, there was an area in the middle of the carpet where a piece had been cut out and repaired with a patch. Some of the towels in the bathroom seemed a bit yellowed and dingy.
Although the hotel was nearly empty, we were put in a room right next to the elevator and behind the building's entrance awning. The awning obstructed almost the entire view out the windowl.l
Like all Hampton Inns, the hotel does offer free Internet access and free breakfast, which is a plus. Our best experience at the hotel was actually the wonderful breakfast attendant. She was so friendly and helpful, and even packed a "snack bag" with food and water for our driving trip (this was a surprise as we were leaving - we hadn't asked for it!).
The hotel's location is at the far western edge of town. It is fairly close to the major shopping/commercial areas, but is not as convenient to downtown as most of the other hotels in town. We are very familiar with Jefferson City and knew this before booking, but people not familiar with the town might want to be aware of this. The Capitol Plaza is a good choice if you want to stay close to downtown.
The Comfort Suites, which is right next door to the Hampton Inn, is a much nicer and cleaner hotel. We would recommend staying there over the Hampton. The only drawback at the Comfort Suites is that the beds are not very nice. If you combined the Hampton Inn beds with the Comfort Suite rooms and cleanliness, you would have a great hotel.

This hotel appears to be reasonably new but it's definitely starting to show a little wear in the rooms. The lobby is spotless, the hotel staff is friendly and very conscientious about whether a guest is having a good stay. A regular complaint of the newer hotels with the pools just off the lobby is that, while it looks very refreshing, the lobby smells so strongly of chlorine it's enough to make you get out the Visine when you hit the door. I suppose at least you know the pool is being treated. The lobby is nice in this hotel, the serving area for breakfast is above average in size. The morning breakfast spread was pretty complete and fairly typical. Mostly pastry and cereal along with fruit. There were hot items available which I did not try. The coffee was average but drinkable.
The rooms are very, VERY clean. I notice that although the grout in the bathroom was bleached a pleasant white, it was also crumbling and nearly gone in the shower I was in. The bed was comfortable, not overly soft with nice linens. Cracked plugs were in the room in more than one place and there were not enough visible outlets to plug in an iron. All of these are very minor complaints. I was here for one night and yes, I'd probably book it again however having stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites next door I have to give them the leg up on the quality of the room. Hampton needs to get their handy men in to take care of these few problems and then this hotel will once again be an "Excellent" stay.

I stayed at this hotel several years ago when it was new. It is now showing its age. It was nice to see the new bedding in each room, but the bathrooms need some work. I could tell that they have painted the grout lines to make them look white again. Makes me wonder what color they really are!

After staying at a few different hotels in Jeff City due to business, I finally found one that was excellent. The room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. The linens and towels clean and soft. The staff was very helpful and informative. Although I didn't use the pool or hot tub, both looked well maintained and relaxing.
My business partner took advantage of the fitness room and was pleased with the equipment and cleanliness.
I enjoyed the selection offered at the complimentary breakfast, although I was surprised to see smoked sausage being served.
Overall, I look forward to staying at this hotel again!

Hampton Inn in Jeff City is my home away from home. I travel to the capitol at least every other month and alway stay at Hampton Inn. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Continental breakfast is always very nice. Would recommend this Hampton Inn
