Was @ UVA hospital. My wife needed to get me some meds after my surgery. The shuttle man drove her to CVS and went back for her after he did two more shuttle trips. Some may have said, get a cab but this was way beyond the services they provide. Thanks so much! Every aspect of the place was above what was expected. Know where I'm staying next time?

My beau and I stayed here over the 4th of July 08- great stay. A little walk to the ped mall - we are early 30s and we walked back after delicious meals at Ten, try the escolar- deliciousness! Shebeen had an amazing wine list (yum!) and we had drinks one night at Mono Loco- ha- very fun live band and brunch the last day that was good and HUGE proportions, honestly. The hotel also give offers a free shuttle to your destination-to and from if you're not up for the walk or its raining- Free breakfasts were a great plus- not just continental but some hot choices and the coffee was good. No turn down service or extra frills but your typical Hampton- enjoy! :) although they did have a little "pantry" with things to buy- sodas, candy, newspapers, etc. No hesitations to rec this to a friend, we also walked to the University- campus is gorgeous!

I stayed here for reunion weekend. Our room was really a suite with sitting room, FULL kitchen, bath and king bedroom. I was struck by the size of the room. In college I lived in apartments that were smaller. Early check in was easy. The room was clean. The hotel was quiet. The decor in the rooms was not quite as good as some other Hamptons I have been in, but it was not awful. Main St is improved but you get the feeling it is rough a block or two away. Still the hotel provides for that. After 10pm you have to pickup a phone to get in and verify who you are.

Just returned from a weekend at the Hampton Inn and had a very pleasant experience. Rooms were very comfortable and the staff was very helpful. This hotel was centrally located and used the hotel shuttle several times. I don't usually stay at Hamptons but will from now on.

We recently visited UVa with our teenaged daughter and needed a place to stay. After reading review after review of various hotels/motels in the area of the university, I went with the Hampton Inn and Suites, and I would recommend it to any family making the college visitation or anyone else, for that matter!
Rooms were a nice size and very clean. The Hampton was built in 1997. Staff was friendly.
The Hampton is located close to the campus, but not within easy walking distance to campus. However, there is a free trolley system to downtown and to the campus that Hampton visitors can use. Sunday evening my husband and I took a walk to the downtown mall area, which had lots of interesting shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, since it was Easter Sunday evening, virtually nothing was open! However, we could see that it would be a fun place to visit, and it is relatively close to the Hampton, with again, the trolley option making it even closer.
We had a most reasonable room rate, which included breakfast (which is open 6-10 a.m. )The hot bar that morning was sausage and waffles, not a light choice. The previous day they had had cheese omelets. However, the fruit salad was fresh and tasty, and guests had a wide choice of beverages (with hot beverages available 24 hours a day in the lobby, also) plus cereal, yogurt, and bagels, among other choices. Staff was attending to the breakfast area as needed.
All all, we thought the Hampton Inn and Suites was a great value.
Only drawback: the property adjoins the railroad tracks which I did not realize until we were leaving. I did wake up a couple of times when the train went through. I couldn't imagine truck after truck going down Main Street at 4 am--it was the train! Still, that was one small factor and would not influence my decision to stay there again should we be back in Charlottesville. No one else in the family noticed the train........
