Wonderful Hotel at a Great Price

From reading the past reviews, it looks like this hotel was new in January 2006, but it still looks like it is brand new. I was pleasantly surprised to find this nice of a hotel in Brownwood, Texas, where the Gate 1 Motor Inn has been rated the #1 place to stay!
Main room: The rooms are spacious, with a sink in the main part of the room, a small fridge and microwave, a fairly large desk, and a chair and ottoman in the corner. The closet is concealed behind a nice large full length mirror that swings outward that makes the room seem larger. The bed is really comfortable and the sheets and comforter are very soft. I literally felt like I was laying down on a cloud! I had the best night's sleep that I have had in a long time, and definitely the best night's sleep I've ever had in a hotel.
The television in the room has 83 different channels - more than I have ever seen in a hotel. For the guys, they have 10 sports channels - ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN News, ESPN Classic, Fox Sports Net SW, Alternate Sports, NFL Network, NBA TV, College Sports TV and the Golf Channel. They also have a bunch of kids channels - Disney, Nickelodeon, Nick Games & Sports, Noggin, Nick Toons, Cartoon Network, and Toon Disney.
My only problem with the room is that the dresser only has three drawers and is kind of small - it is sufficient for me - a single traveler, staying for a week on business, but it would probably be too small for a couple or a family unless you were only staying for a couple of nights.
Bathroom: There is a large vanity mirror with a beautiful granite counter. and shelves underneath the sink to store your toiletries. The sink and bath fixtures are Delta and the toilet is Kohler. The complimentary toiletries are pretty standard - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath soap, facial soap, a moist towelette, and a vanity kit (includes 2 q-tips, 2 cotton balls and a miniature nail file.
Hotel amenities: Free breakfast (hot and cold), fitness center (with an elliptical machine, treadmill and stationary bike), manager's reception from 6-8 pm (free beer, wine coolers, soft drinks and snacks like chips and queso, pretzels and nuts), free high-speed internet, and a business center with computer and printer.
I hope this review helps and enjoy your stay!

I have always liked Hampton Inns, but we had a bad experience with this one. Our room was supposed to be ready at 2:00 pm. We finally were able to check in at 5:00 pm... only to find we had no water. The entire hotel had no water. I think they should at least mention this when you check in! The front desk told us "the whole city is out, they must be working on a water main". *I* called the city and.. nope. We walked across the street to Chili's and they had water. We ate and went to the bathroom, came back and called corporate headquaters... who called the front desk and they gave them the same story. I have no idea what was actually going on, but the water came on a couple of hours later.... even with all this and my complaints, I still got billed for the room. What happened to the satisfaction guarantee? I may stay at a Hampton again, but it will never be the one in Brownwood. Too many problems and no one even willing to talk to us about them, much less address them.

This hotel offers a lot for the money. It is a new property and everything is very clean and up to date. The bed was very comfortable.
As mentioned in another review, someone cleans your car windshield while you sleep. That's a nice touch!
I would definitely stay here again.

This is a brand new factility.
I have become quite loyal to Hamptons recently, and this new location does not dissapoint.
I have stayed here three times already, and have experienced good service and a quiet stay each time.
The rooms are a bit different that others I have been in - there is a tile entry, and the bathroom is reconfigured to allow for more room. There are granite counter tops in both the bathroom, and the little bar area, which has its own sink. There is also a microwave and fridge.
Considering this is woodframe with steel, it is surprisingly quiet. I only heard my neighbor when they entered the room, and there seems to be an ample amount of stability to the floor - theres not much noise when walking around. The room was immaculate, and the bed was very comfortable.
The parking is good, and there are many restaurants in the area, including a Subway and TCBY that share the parking lot.
An additional bonus, was that they washed my windsheid during the night!
