This was an attractive enough, but ordinary room. And it was as clean as most chain hotel rooms. However, out of all the places in which we stayed (La Quinta, Best Western and independent) it was the most expensive. The others were nicer.
The continental breakfast was poor (few offerings and not very healthy).

The Hampton Inn Alamogordo is one of the typical ready-mades you'll find anywhere near the Highway entrance. It's advantageously located on the southern end of Alamogordo surrounded by other hotels, eating places, services, etc. The hotel itself is another mixture of pre-assembled architecture with pseudo traditional interior design. There should be nothing to complain about for a overnight stay as we did. Except that we discovered some undesired companions in our room: bugs. When informing the front desk about it by showing the living proof nobody seemed to be particularly concerned. No apologies.
Also, the air conditioner leaked. Again, no apologies.
Note that the pool section is closed without any explanation.
Not worth the money - select another location.

We stayed here two nights while exploring White Sands and the Ruidoso region. After having spent one night in Carlsbad, the Hampton Inn in Alamogordo was a tremendous respite and upgrade.
The property is not one of Hampton's newest, but it is well-maintained. The room had one of the chain's new beds. Our floor was very quiet.
Property was clean and presentable. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was typical Hampton--which I find to be good for the value.
Good restaurants are lacking in Alamogordo. We don't typically frequent chains, but a Chili's was located adjacent to the Hampton Inn. After driving around looking for an appealing "local" restaurant, we found ourselves back at our hotel and walking across the parking lot to Chili's. Nothing spectacular but it was convenient.
This property is a good bet if you're in the area. It's located in the southern section of Alamogordo, making for an easy drive to White Sands.

Good choice in Alamagordo
