We arrived in Alcala De Henares without booking anything and knowing little about the town. At first we found it difficult to park, but once in the town and looking around, we found it to be a very pleasant place to stay and there seemed to always be a festival of one sort or another on. We stopped at tourist information and they recommended the Hotel Husa. It is situated all of 2 mins from the main square, is a simple hotel with not much of a bar/restaurant, but when your'e in the middle of town, why would you want to be in the hotel?! They gave us a parking space a couple of blocks away which was secure. Our room was simple, clean, not huge but comfortable and despite a slight mumbling from the air con unit, no complaints. The welcome and service from the staff was excellent, but the main reason why this hotel is so good is the location. Its perfect if you want to see everything Alcala de Henares has to offer.

I stayed at the Husa El Bedel for one night last week with my husband and 2 teenage daughters. We had two rooms on the 2d floor. The hotel itself is a little tired and could tolerate some upgrading. However, it was perfectly clean and comfortable. The hotel sits in Alcala's most scenic and flower-filled square, immediately adjacent to the stunning main University building. We just happened to arrive on April 23d, the day that the King and Queen of Spain were presenting the annual Cervantes Prize in Literature, and the entire town was abuzz, celebrating literature and books with special events and an outdoor book market. Do not miss morning coffee in the cafe in the adjacent University building, with its buzz of students and staff. We were able to drive our car right into the square to load and unload luggage, and the hotel's parking garage is located about a half block away.

The Husa El Bedel is the perfect place to stay for exploring Alcala de Henares. The location is unbeatable, on a lovely square right next to the main University building. I found the hotel itself to be an excellent 3-star facility, and the room rates are more than reasonable. The bathrooms were new and spotless, and the rooms themselves were quite comfortable. They have free wifi which is very convenient and easy to use. If you arrive by car, you can pull up to the hotel to unload luggage even though the hotel faces a pedestrian area (turn down the street called Bustamante de la Camara off of Plaza Cervantes; there's a sign that says "hotel traffic only"). There was a good amount of parking on the plaza itself, and the hotel contracts with a private garage which is only a block away. We found it easy to use, though from the parking garage I recommend backing up to the hotel - if you go the other direction on the street it takes a while to get back around to the hotel because of all the one-way streets The buffet breakfast was quite good, with warm eggs and churros along with the typical pastries, ham and cheese. They also had fresh mango and chocolate covered strawberries at breakfast, which was a nice surprise. My one complaint is that the common areas (halls and restaurant area) smelled pretty strongly of cigarette smoke. I'm not usually bothered by a little smoke, but the hotel bar seems to attract a lot of smokers and the breakfast area is right next to it, so it's hard to avoid. Anyone who is very sensitive to cigarette smoke might want to avoid that area and eat breakfast elsewhere.
