We stayed here in both 2005 and 2006. Unfortunately, the standard of service in the restaurant has dropped quite dramatically. In 2006, there was no sommelier and the new maître d'hôtel was not as good as the previous one. Service at the restaurant was very slow, partcularly at breakfast..
The Auberge de Noves is more of a quiet country home, run by 2 generations. In 2005, the son was very present, but in 2006, seemed to be confined to the kitchens.
The restaurant is excellent and the terrace beautiful on a warm provencal evening. The wine list is also excellent.
The pool is beautifully set in the trees. There are no staff on hand but there are drinks in a fridge in the pool house. You help yourself and note what you have taken.
There are bicycles at your dispostion.
The tennis court is fine although the net needs a bit of repair. As it's surrounded by trees, visibility is a bit tough.
The hotel is about 20 minutes from Avignon and about 40 minutes from Orange so its a good location for the festivals and for exploring Provence.
We book a superior room. Very spacious, cool with a large balcony, which unfortuantely has no shade.
There is wireless internet connction in the rooms, but in 2006, this was down for the entire week we were ther, the hotel having been hit by lightning the week before.
We thoroughly enjoy this hotel and find it extremely relaxing. I just hope they fix the problems with the service before next year.

good choice if you can't get in to the top relais in the area

this place must do all it's business from relais & chateux and is probably an overspill from the more popular places. It's absolutely fine, but it's not got the extra pazazz that other relais properties have. The location isn't great - it's in the countryside, but there's no villages with good restaurants close by so it's a drive to avignon or st remy if you don't want to eat at the hotel . the hotel is good value for rooms, but extremely expensive for food - we didn't eat here though so i can't comment on if it was worth it. the rooms are ok, the terraces are nice (if a little non-private), the pool is fine. the carpets are bad, but that seems to be true of all european family run hotels.
overall, you won't be disappointed, but you won't be blown away by this place. staff were very nice.

Pretty chateux and grounds, helpful and pleasant reception staff. Nice pool and great location for exploring Provence, although no local bistros unless you drive a few kilometres to St Remy for example. The restaurant is wonderful with excellent Maitre D's, as you would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant, but you don't necessarily want a seven course full-on gourmet experience costing your average couple £200 a night. And that's all you can have. No simple Steak Frites here, alas!
Rooms ok, some better than others and the Air Con is a bit rubbish in high summer. Most disappointing aspect is breakfast however, which costs 22 Euros each just for a bowl of bread, jam, coffee fruit and yoghurt that must cost them all of three euros to produce. You are encouraged to choose anything else you fancy but if you do great confusion abounds. We would typically wait over an hour nearly every morning and repeatedly have to request simple things like ham, cheese or tomatoes, or even water. When the bill came at the end of our stay we were appalled to discover that these were all extra, e.g. a medium size breakfast will set a couple back over £50! The overall standards of service similarly are well below 4 star.
Our six night stay where we dined for three nights at the hotel set usback nearly £2000. For that money you expect something really special, and while Auberge de Noves is nice enough, special it ain't.

My husband and I first went to the Auberge de Noves over twenty-five years ago and have gone back regularly-- at least fifteen times-- since, and in all seasons. We have just returned from a week's stay there.
The Auberge offers a wonderful combination of informality, such as the very readable handwritten suggestions for "rambles"either on or off the property (which is extensive and always being kept up)
and a more formal but still relaxed dining room.
In our opinion the food itself ranges from delicious to superb. The chef is Robert Lalleman who follows the family tradition as third generation chef/manager.
The Auberge may well disappoint a guest who is looking for an ultra-modern U.S. style overnight business hotel, although it does have conference facilities which we have seen in active use on a number of occasions. The rooms range from very comfortable to very up-to-date and the service is prompt and friendly. This is a country chateau dedicated to maintaining a welcoming atmosphere of unpressured European elegance and excellent cuisine.
We will surely go again, just as soon as we can.
