Stayed for 2 nights in this very ordinary hotel. It has a swimming pool to die for which is probably what will happen to you if you use it. It is a pigeon bird bath and they were the only things we saw in it during our stay. Problems with water supply in the room not really satisfactorily resolved. Room on the dingy side. Breakfast very basic and not appetizing.
Overall a disappointment.

Although you try hard, it is difficult to find a good side of our (luckily) short stay at the Mandawa Haveli. First, the guys at the reception seemed quite surprised about our arrival (we had booked through a travel agent). So they gave us some kind of "last minute room" overlooking the inner courtyard, with no windows. After our complaint they moved us to another room, humid, ice cold and dirty. And - the final touch - no hot water in the morning. Not to mention the incredibly slow and careless service (the Nepalese boys probably do what they are told by the management, which is the real problem with this hotel) and the poor and depressing scene of the morning breakfast. It is a hotel which basically works with big groups, so attention to detail does not belong to their DNA. Awfully overpriced for what you do not get . It was a great pleasure to find a far better accomodation in Jaipur the next day.

Mandawa Haveli Jaipur
We stayed at Mandawa Haveli in Jaipur in December 07 for three nights and found this hotel to be average. On the positive side it was OK, clean, hot water for showers available, not a bad location close to the old city. Our clothes came back intact from the laundry service although some items had got muddled up with another load but we did get them back. It seems to cater for tour groups and bookings through agents – this was the only hotel we booked through an agent - so the level of service is not too good and everything single thing is an extra charge. It is quite noisy being near a mosque and on a busy road. Also the corridors echo so there is a lot of noise from inside the hotel. Our room was near the kitchen so were woken up early every morning by the kitchen noise. Breakfast buffet wasn’t great but the a la carte dinner (not the dinner buffet) in the evening was surprisingly good and good value. The staff on the front desk were quite helpful but the general level of service was average. On the whole we thought it would have been OK if it had been half the price – we wish we’d stayed across the road at Alsisar Haveli which was a similar price but seemed a much nicer environment.

Hotel with character, quaint

My husband and I (both in our mid 20's) stayed at Hotel Mandawa for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. If you are driving from Delhi, the trip can be anywhere from 5-8 hours depending on weather and traffic. The hotel is an old castle located in the heart of Jaipur. Do a simple search of the hotel to get detailed information. Our trip was an all inclusive tour booked through a government endorsed travel agency of India. There is so much history to absorb from the area that it really takes more than 2 days to fully enjoy it.
Pros:
The courtyard is beautiful
Wait staff is exceptional
Convenient location
Internet cafe across the street
Quiet in that there isn't as much traffic noise as Delhi or Agra
Unique rooms
Beautiful pool
Nice sitting areas throughout the hotel
Cons:
I do not recommend the hotel to people who can not do stairs easily, anyone looking for TV/internet in the room, anyone who is fussy, or anyone looking for a hot shower (shower experience throughout India was semi-warm with little pressure).
Do not eat the buffet food since we think that it may have given us a little food poisoning. You are better off ordering individual meals that are not offered from the buffet (much safer).
Our room was on the 2nd floor and overlooked the dining area. I would not recommend that location if you like to go to bed early or sleep in because sound echoes directly up and into your room from the dining area.
Keep track of all the food bills because they may try to say that you charged a meal to your room when you really paid. Food is so cheap that we decided not to argue with the receptionist and to just pay it.
Front desk receptionist is not friendly.
Awful booking through expedia

I had booked the hotel through expedia. We arrived at the hotel on Saturday night to stay for one night and we were told they were full. Apparently this had happened to other guests on the previous week. They seem not to communicate with websites such expedia and hotels.com and these make bookings on false availability. We were left almost at midnight looking for another hotel in Jaipur and with not an apology or offer of other services whatsoever.
The hotel seemed clean and nice but we never found out given that we paid for a room that wasn't available.
I recommend contacting the hotel directly for booking but honestly I wouldn't stay there, they weren't helpful at all and we were left with no room in the middle of Jaipur at night.
