I found Villa Rigacci on the internet and fell in love with the pictures of the place. When I contacted them to check availability they were so friendly and helpful I couldn't wait to get there. We had originally planned to stay only 1 night and stay the other 2 nights in Florence but after one night in Florence we decided we wanted something a little slower and quieter and opted to stay the 3rd night at Rigacci before we even got there. I am so glad we did. It is such a nice escape from the busy touristy Florence. We ended up driving into Florence in the morning to do the tourist thing and then looking forward to being back at Rigacci to rest by the pool and have a nice quiet, relaxed dinner. There is a nice pool and an outdoor area for eating. Our room was modest but clean. I have no complaints at all. While everything about the hotel was fabulous nothing topped the dinners we had. We decided to eat at the hotel (which we rarely do) and I am so glad we did. The food was excellent! After dinner my husband and I decided that it might have been the best meal we have EVER had! Mr. Pierazzi, the owner/operator, was so friendly and made us feel right at home. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to any of my friends.

It was our frist trip to Italy and the Villa Rigacci did not dissappoint - in fact it sets a great bar for a non-fussy but very well kept and well serviced country house hotel.
While we were there tots and dogs mixed with singles, grandparents and young couples, all happy together. Whether to hike the nearby trails, to swim in the WONDERFUL and LARGE pool (with bar service), or spend an afternoon under the large covered outdoor pavillion for a long lunch. Did I mention the luncheon and dinner food is quite good, the breakfast is an immense buffet.
The villa is spotless and well-decorated, boasting its own chapel for the devout and a well-stocked bar for the less devout.
Location could not be better - 1/2 hour from Florence with a direct train and an hour on bus - we did not drive and found our way there easily.
My only suggestion is to have a WI-FI network for guests. Not that I brought a laptop since it was a vacation after all! Finally - the price is very good for the high quality of service and food.

We just returned from a 9-day Italy trip for my 50th birthday. What a beautiful country steeped in history! Four days of our trip were spent in Tuscany at the Villa Rigacci. It is situated 35 miles s.e. of Florence and that proved to be a good location for day trips to Siena, Chianti, etc...
Villa Rigacci was a charming hotel with an old-world feel, a beautiful view and a wonderful and helpful staff. The large pool and covered outdoor eating area overlook rolling hills of green and mountains in the distance. There were wild horses, singing birds, lovely roses on the grounds and a peaceful feeling at the villa.
Each morning, a continental breakfast was served and the quaint dining room, complete with antiques on the walls, was a quiet way to end a busy day of traveling. If you don't mind two twins pushed together to make a queen bed, (seems to be a European thing) and are looking for a quiet restful piece of history in Tuscany...this is your place! Also small dog-friendly.
