Recently Renovated Older Property

The Blau Meditteraneo (not to be confused with the Club) is a recently renovated older property in the Germanic resort town of Sa Como. Yes, I said Germanic -- the strange fact of Mallorca is that certain towns have evolved to service the customers of certain countries --- in this case, German is the primary language, with Catalan and Spanish also spoken... and sometimes english.
Room: Recently renovated, with a decent sized bathroom and a modern decor. Sea view rooms with a nice view to the waterfront.
Grounds: Pool is reasonably sized, and the pool-sized chairs do fill up, and the beach immediately in front gets rather crowded.
People: Most at this time of the year are retirees and families with young children.
Entertainment: The entertainment ranged from decent to quite terrible (bad lip synching).
Spa: Well equipped renovated spa, with good massages and hair salon. the sports center across the street is not renovated and is run down, but well equipped with tennis/squash courts and free weights.
Food: The buffet is large and varied, although a bit bland due to the target audience. The Majorcan nights on Wednesday and Saturday.
Surrounding Area: The resort town is mid-market in terms of pricing, and has a mid-sized strip of restaurants, bars and tourist shops. If you want more active nightlife and don't want to go to Palma, you can head to Cala Millor, a few km away.
Tips:
* Booking directly with the hotel meant a free upgrade and a price better than a package deal
* when you arrive, reserve at the Italian or Japanese restaurant immediately. There are only open four days a week and they book quickly
* get a rental car and head to nearby beaches to escape the crowds.

Very nice 4 star hotel newly renovated and with all you can ask for. Very modern style, top service, great pool scenery with direct beach access. Excellent food variety and quality, nice evening entertainment. The SPA facility is certainly above average. We defenitely suggest to take a sea view room. Car parking is also free and if all slots are taken there are plenty of spaces on the street. The hotel might look first like a concrete block from outside but they have done a good job in the interior. Lobby is very spacious with a cool lounge atmosphere. Rooms are very clean and with modern furniture. Guests are mostly German speaking like in most places on the island.
