We booked 2 nights online, though the hotel directly told us they were fully booked. Seems they sell some room to some online booking sites. The place and the location are great, the staff is very friendly. It seems on our first night we got the best room (126) which has not only a small balcony, but also a big private terrace (there is also a great terrace on the 2nd floor) The location is fantastic .. right at the small public part of the pebble beach (if you think pebbles are not nice, think about all the sand that you are NOT getting into everything ... less messy). Around this public part are many pay-per-day beach options (26 - 40 EU per couple) which gives you 2 beach chairs and an umbrella. But back to the hotel ... clean, working AC, wifi in the public areas (we had room 114 the second night, smaller, still seaview, and close enough to the reception to get the wifi signal). The breakfast was above sufficiant, albait a bit unpersonal, everything, including hot drinks, was self service. They have a corner of the breakfast area designated as 'playroom' which was great for our kid. Parking will be a problem as the public space close to the hotel is always crowded. You can book a space in the garage of the hotel for 12EU a night. We very much enjoyed the stay and would come back in a heartbeat. If you go, do not miss visiting the historic center of Bordighera (only a 10 minutes walk away)

Quest’albergo è una vera gemma: è a gestione familiare, tenuto benissimo e si trova su una bella spiaggia verso l’estremità est di Bordighera. Siamo passati in macchina o ci siamo allenati attraverso Bordighera per anni, spesso fermandoci per pranzo o per cena in uno dei suoi ottimi ristoranti. È anche un ottimo posto se volete fare shopping. Quest’anno, mentre andavamo verso est partendo dal terminal del traghetto a Nizza abbiamo deciso di fermarci per la notte. Eravamo già passati in quest’albergo in ottobre quando abbiamo dato un’occhiata in giro e abbiamo preso un depliant. Sapevamo che volevamo provarlo. Anche se ci sono dei parcheggi pubblici vicino all’albergo, potete scommetterci che saranno occupati. In albergo c'è un minuscolo parcheggio con, in teoria, spazio per sei macchine che però devono incastrarsi così bene come in un cubo di Rubik quindi ci vuole pazienza e abilità per riuscire ad entrarci. Se arrivate in treno, un taxi vi porterà in albergo in poco tempo, altrimenti potete fare una lunga passeggiata. La colazione era una delle migliori che abbiamo provato durante il nostro viaggio di sei settimane. Quando siedi all'aperto durante un bellissimo giorno di maggio si può facilmente pensare che si potrebbe rimanere qui per diverse settimane. C’era un bel miscuglio di coppie giovani e meno giovani e di famiglie. Questo è un piccolo hotel e la nostra camera, che guardava sulla spiaggia, era simile a una di quelle fotografate sul loro sito web. Era arredata con gusto anche se è un pochino piccola; c’era anche un balcone minuscolo, ma delizioso. Insomma ci siamo stati veramente bene. L’albergo aveva una terrazza dove si può prendere il sole che era assolutamente magnifica ed è decisamente da non perdersi. Il personale è cordiale e davvero accogliente. Il Piccolo Lido ha molti clienti abituali, e devo dire meritatamente. C'è un certo numero di alberghi più costosi (e anche meno costosi) a Bordighera, ma questo offre un rapporto qualità/prezzo eccellente, un’ubicazione fantastica e dell’ospitalità veramente genuina. L’inverno scorso sembrava che avessero problemi a non finire con la loro e-mail. Alla fino ho dovuto scrivergli chiedendo di prenotare una camera e fornendo loro il mio numero di carta di credito come garanzia. Con un po’ di fortuna voi non avrete così tanti problemi. Altrimenti, armatevi di pazienza e mandate una lettera per posta.

Abbiamo prenotato due notti su internet sebbene l’hotel ci avesse detto che erano pieni; sembra che alcune camere siano disponibili solo online. Sia l’albergo che l’ubicazione sono eccezionali e il personale è veramente cordiale. Direi che la camera che ci hanno dato la prima notte (la 126) era la più bella che avevano: non solo aveva un piccolo balcone, ma anche una grande terrazza privata (c’è un’altra fantastica terrazza al secondo piano). Il Piccolo Lido vanta una fantastica posizione: si trova a ridosso della piccola parte pubblica della spiaggia ghiaiosa (se credete che la ghiaia non sia bella, pensate a tutta la sabbia che NON si sta infilando dappertutto .... crea decisamente meno problemi). Attorno a questa spiaggia pubblica ce se sono molte dove si può accedere pagando giornalmente (€26 – 40 a coppia che vi darà diritto a 2 sedie a sdraio e a un ombrellone). Ma torniamo all’albergo.... pulito, condizionatore d’aria funzionante, connessione WiFi nelle aree pubbliche (la seconda notte ci hanno dato la camera 114 che era più piccola, ma aveva pur sempre la vista sul mare ed abbastanza vicina alla reception così da ricevere il segnale WiFi). La colazione era più che sufficiente, anche se un po’ impersonale; tutto, incluse le bevande calde, era a self service. Un angolo della sala colazione era designato come “area gioco” il che era perfetto per il nostro bambino. Parcheggiare sarà un problema dato che gli spazi vicino all’hotel sono sempre occupati. Tuttavia si può prenotare un parcheggio nel garage dell’albergo a €12 a notte. Insomma, siamo stati benissimo al Piccolo Lido e ci torneremmo in un baleno. Se andate, non dimenticate di visitare il centro storico di Bordighera (a soli 10 minuti a piedi).

This is a beautifully maintained family owned gem on a pleasant beach at the extreme eastern end of Bordighera. We have been driving or training through Bordighera for years, often stopping for lunch or dinner at one of its many fine restaurants. It is also a good shopping destination. This year, heading east from the Nice ferry terminal we decided to make it an overnight stop. We had visited the hotel in October, picked up a brochure and took a quick look around. We knew we wanted to give it a try. While there is some public parking near the hotel, count on its being full. They have a tiny garage, theoretically holding six cars in a Rubik's Cube configuration that takes patience and skill to maneuver into. If you are arriving by train, it will be a short cab ride or a long walk. The breakfast was one of the best in a six week trip. Sitting outside on a beautiful May day, we could easily have settled in for a few weeks. There was a pleasant mix of young and old couples and families. This is a small hotel and our room overlooking the beach was similar to the one pictured on their web-site. Tastefully decorated, a little cramped, but with a tiny but lovely balcony, we were very comfortable there. The hotel has an absolutely magnificent sun terrace which is not to be missed. The staff is warm and welcoming. The hotel gets many repeat visitors, and deservedly so. There are a number of more expensive (and also less costly) hotels in Bordighera, but this one provides excellent value, an optimal location and truly genuine hospitality. Last winter they were having considerable trouble with their e-mail. I finally had to write them requesting the reservation and providing credit card information as a guarantee. Hopefully, you will have an easier time of it. If not, be patient and use the post.

Piccolo Lido is right beside the seaside. Wonderful airy family room overlooking with sea with big balcony. Wonderful friendly staff, so helpful with the children. The restaurant was great - gorgeous food. Marvellous breakfast - such variety. The old town is just 10 minutes walk, it is so interesting and beautiful with great restaurants. The reception staff were so helpful with information regarding the area and the best bit was the bill - we found it great value for money!
