I traveled throughout China with a music ensemble and stayed at three hotels in all. This hotel was the best by far. The staff was knowledgeable and spoke english well as my chinese was not so good. The nearby lake gave a splendid view, especially at night and a great place for a refreshing walk. The hotel was within easy walking distance to town and the night market. I will definately consider returning in the future.

Hotel was lovely. At night it was lit up. However, bathrooms had sex items for sale. Items such as: Cleanups, condoms, men's underwear, and lub. A guess the hotel is for the traveling businessman. A few blocks from the main area.

This was one of the poorest 4* hotels we stayed in on our holiday travelling around China. When we arrived there were three weddings going on and we were virtually ignored and pushed into a side room for dinner. The following day a conference took place and we felt that guests were ignored as guests are 'only there for a short time so it doesn't matter '. In all the travelling we have done around the world, this is the first hotel any of us had seen that left a message to guests that if we damaged the carpet, furniture, furnishings or ripped the bedding, we would have to pay for the repairs or replacement. It did not make us feel at all comfortable as we were frightened to put down our coffee/tea cups in case we were charged for revarnishing the table. The room generally had seen better days - who had torn the wallpaper before we got there? Did they have to pay? We can only think they must have a lot of vandals staying there if they have to resort to these comments. Breakfasts were OK. Staff spoke to you if you spoke to them first.
We had to ask for the bar to be opened so we could have a drink before dinner and the bar furniture was grubby and uncomfortable. The whole hotel wants updating and a change of attitude if it wants recommendations for guests to stay there - oh, and when they do the rooms get softer beds please. We filled in the complaints form but don't know if they read them.

Solid hotel choice in Guilin China
Guest name: slavecp, Georgetown, Colorado
The Guilin Park Hotel (solid 3+ star hotel) offered a good mix of local favor while helping the western tourist slide back to old western eating habits if one decides to go that direction. The hotel is located on one of the several lakes in this beautiful city. Take the lake river night boat ride to experience the size and differences of the city (4.8MM that doesn't rank in the top 20 cities in population). Walk the beautiful trails during the day and see many wonderful sites. This is a city you can navigate on your own, but please don't miss the out of the way food markets for a real side of the urban shopping experience. The city has a large park with two Pandas, please don't miss this non-tourist park.
