Cute Little Hotel

This is a cute little hotel with a South American flair (reminded me of Cuzco) across the street from a beautiful beach. Location is great.
..convenient to beach and just a little ways from So. Beach...and the area is quiet at night, but you have to tell the hotel representative to turn off the disgusting Musak in the lobby at night or you won't be able to sleep.(This is the only thing I really hated. The Musak does absolutely nothing except detract from the charm of the hotel. Why don't they get rid of it?) Very cute lobby and veranda in front. Staff ranges from charming to disinterested. We tried the spa, but it looked like it hadn't been used in a while and had a thick layer of strange foam floating on top, so we didn't linger. I think, in general, travelers with a lot of internatonal experience would be quite happy here, but those who are only comfortable at a big, characterless American hotel that smells of disinfectant would not be. The beds were wonderful, very comfortable and had down comforters and nice linens. There was a small fridge in the room (yeah!) and the air conditioning was cold enough. Adequate on-street parking. I got a package so I paid under$100 a night, which was a bargain. I certainly would not pay much more per night for a room here.I would definitely go back and would recommend it to friends.

This is a beautifully restored hotel and definately above average but with some problems. The rooms are quiet and very comfortable but beware of the rooms above the main airconditioning unit causing noise and vibration in the windows and floor.
The front desk staff are polite and very efficient.
As the hotel is quite expensive I was surpised to find the bottles of water left on the side table for the "guests" was added to the bill.

The first impression of the outside is nice, interior it is a bit dated with the Spanish decor. The first room given to me was small and smelled like someone's under arm. Then when I went into the bathroom and lifted the toilet seat cover it was covered in urine and hair. I went to the front desk, he went to check it out and gave me another room. The second room smelled very stronly of mold/mildew. The sheets & comforter had many tears and stains on them. It was disgusting, but I didn't complain, as I didn't know how much worse it would get. I noticed when I went to take a shower that the plastic shower curtain was stained with mildew, but I think the smell was coming from the AC. The longer the AC was on the stronger the smell. There isn't a proper desk to work on, there were Wifi issues as well.
The location of the hotel is in the middle of a quiter area, just traffic, which you here on all sides of the building. There is only a jacuzzi inside the building, and it's quite noisy, you can hear it in the rooms. Also, you can hear other guests in their rooms. No parking as mentioned by previous guests you have to pay a meter across the street which fills up quickly in the mornings. The area seems a little seedy, I wouldn't go out alone. Restaurant is small and no wait staff, just a bartender who is covering the entire bar/restaurant. Food was ok, but I think they were serving spoiled butter with the bread and it was mixed into their mashed potatoes. I was happy to leave this hotel and will stay at my usual hotel property next time.

This hotel is conveniently located, a mile or so from South Beach, within a hundred yards of the beach and with good car access to downtown Miami. In front of the hotel there is a public parking lot across Collins Avenue (one $ per hour from 8:00am to 10:00pm). Staff was friendly and the room easy to maintain with tiled floors. The plumbing may be a bit unorthodox but not to the point of preventing a decent shower. Overall we recommend it as a convenient place to stay for the money.

Grandioso! Consigliato!!
