My stay at the Valencia was wonderful. I joined their VIP program and sure felt like one when I arrived. The friendly staff was very courteous and genuine. I was given a beautiful suite, overlooking the Riverwalk. The decor is very chic and contemporary, yet warm and inviting. The bed and linens were extremely comfortable. I received a complementary bottle of wine delivered to my room, which was a great start to my stay. The hotel also offers great exercise amenities. A jogging trail guide was placed in the Hotel Guidebook and I used it to take a beautiful, scenic run along the riverwalk. The next night I used their workout facility, which had a number of machines to choose from, bottled water, and ice cold towels which were refreshing after the workout. The Valet staff was extremely nice and provided great service. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting San Antonio!

This hotel was a great location and was very nice. It was, however, very noisy in our room. If it weren't for this, I would have given it a 4/5.
Pros: Location, staff
It is right down from The Majestic Theater and right off the Riverwalk. The location is great. It's a short walk down the Riverwalk to great clubs and restaurants. The staff was very nice and helpful.
The restaurant, Citrus, was very nice (we only had breakfast there). Appetizers and drinks in the bar downstairs (don't remember the name) were also good. Finally, the room was very clean and comfortable.
Cons: Noise
The only problem, which was a major one, was the room location within the hotel. A combination of the street noise and hallway noise was unbearable. Beware! We booked a balcony room. They might be better on the river side, but we got one on the street side. It was way too close to the street. We were woken up by people and cars continuously until about 3am. At about 5am we were woken up by trucks picking up dumpsters. In addition, our room was right across from a loud ice machine that seemed to be used every half-hour until about 4am.
I think we had the misfortune of numerous issues compiling on one another. Overall, I would say Hotel Valencia is worth staying, but make sure to get a room on a higher floor. I would avoid the balcony rooms all together, but they may be quieter on the river side; however, these are right over the bar/night club.

The Hotel Valencia staff made the trip the experience that it should have been. From the valets to the bellman to the front desk to the concierge, everyone was a step above the rest. JC, the bellman, took the time to tour the hotel for both me and my wife (we arrived seperately), sparing no features either time. (Anecdotally - my wife wanted to tip, but didn't have change. She told him to keep the bill. Later that evening we had an envelope under her door with her change. He didn't knock, or want to bring attention to himself.) Joseph, the concierge, took great care of us as it was our anniversary. Got us reservations at one of the best restaurants on the Riverwalk (Boudro's) with less than 5 hours notice. And scheduled my a facial and massage for my wife the next morning without incident. It seemed everyone at Boudro's knew it was our anniversary, too.
The accommodations are very nice. The rooms are well designed and decorated. It is very charming, classy, and contemporary without being overkill on any of them. The only possible complaint would be that the bed wasn't the best hotel bed I've ever had, but nothing to shake a stick at...
For the price ($150) I paid, I don't think you can go wrong at this hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. This hotel is nice, but not my favorite. It is very contemporary and very dark. We prefer the Watermark hotel's design. The Valencia is a good value for a nice room. However, our room smelled like a smoking room and it was non-smoking. The bell boy told us it was the new fragrances being used to scent the rooms. The hotel is in a quiet part of the riverwalk which is nice. Don't stay here if you want a pool, there isn't one. If this is your first visit to San Antonio, I would stay elsewhere to get a true Texas experience.
