Hotel is advertised as 4 stars, so unless the rating standards are different from US hotels, BW Kampa is more like a 3 star hotel to me.
Not a bad place to stay though. The staff were nice and courteous. The room was not too small and it was clean. The elevator door looked like a regular room door so I thought that was pretty cool. However it broke on our first day there so we had to use the stairs the rest of the time there. Glad to have use it at least once.
I was here to attend a wedding reception at their Knight's Hall. It was a nice dining area old medieval type decorations. The music and dancing at the reception was loud and lasted until 1am, so I wonder if that bothered any guest staying there. Other than that, I really didn't spend too much time at the hotel. I was always out exploring the city and eating out.
The hotel is close to a lot of things, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town. All places in walking distance.
All in all, this is an average hotel for an average price. There are so many other hotels that you can choose from, all of which I'm sure will be about the same with this hotel.

We stayed in Hotel Kampa in February 2008. Originally booked 9 nights, but eventually ended up staying only 2. The hotel was a huge disappointment, especially since it has been recommended to us.
Many of the features advertised on the hotel website are simply not provided. They say guests will be provided with complimentary newspapers. In reality the papers were on sale at the reception desk. The internet connection comes as a T-Mobile hotspot, which was very difficult to set up and the receptionist was of no help at all.
One night we asked the receptionist to call us a taxi. The car that came was unlicenced and charged us double. When we complained at the desk afterwards, they simply didn't do anything. The next day we wanted to have dinner in the hotel's restaurant. The huge place was empty except for a table of Russian tourists. The waiters refused to seat us, saying that we haven't made a reservation. This was indeed the case, but we didn't think it was necessary since the place was practically empty all nights. We had problems with the housekeepers as well, who kept knocking on our door despite the "Don't disturb" sign. We left the hotel after 2 nights and spent the rest of our stay elsewhere.
All in all, this is definitely not a 3-star hotel, and is very badly managed. We wrote formal complaints to Best Western headquarters as well, since this place definitely destroys their reputation.

I completely agree with the previous reviewer. First the good; The hotel itself was quirky and unusual. The rooms although small were clean, warm and well equipped. (Because of the shape of the building the rooms get slightly bigger as you move away from reception). The hotel is in a brilliant position for reaching most of the sights. The bad - The attitude of the staff on reception was poor - everything seemed too much efort for them. The dining room and bar were booked by Christmas parties each evening and if you wanted anything you were told to use room service (at a price). We arrived at 10-30 at night and had to go out of the hotel to find a meal. Luckily there were several restaurants locally. Even mid afternoon the staff were reluctant to provide a hot drink (it was -6 outside) and there are no drinks facilities in the rooms. When my friend had her money stolen they were very unhelpful and had to be asked several times before they told us where the police station was. (That's another story). Watch out for the pickpockets especially on the 18, 22 and 23 trams. We knew about them and even with bags under coats they managed to steal my friends purse. From the queue at the police station we were not the only one's. Prague was an experience I will repeat in a hurry.

First the good - this is a hotel situated ideally for the city centre of Prague. Our room was reasonable, very clean and well equipped. Prices were reasonable and breakfast was good.
On the Best Website they advertise a complimentary newspaper - this was not provided. They also say staff will assist with booking tickets for attractions and events - they will not - we were told to contact these ourselves.
Now the worst - we were in Prague from 2nd - 7th December for the Christmas Markets. We didn't always want to eat out after long days in the city. This hotel books out its restuarant and bar facilities completely to corporate / private dinners. This meand that residents have no bar area or restuarant as they do not have a seperate facility. This happened on 4 out of the 5 night we were there. When we complained they simply did not understand our annoyance that advertised facilities were withdrawn. they told us there were other restuarants in the area or we could use room service. Be aware of this if considering the Kampa
