Stayed for just one night before moving on. Rooms are large but in poor condition. Mine was at the front of the hotel and had I been staying longer, would have complained, it was so noisy until about 3 am.
The locks wouldnt have held against a puff of wind and the curtains were falling to pieces.
The sockets were falling off the wall and I had to move the chest of drawers to plug in my hairdryer.
There are no lifts so be prepared to lug your cases up flights of stairs.
The bartender was friendly as were the check in staff, the breakfast staff were rude.
I wouldnt return.

We stayed at Gloustershire 3 nights total and we loved it. It was just what we expected....nothing luxurious, but exactly what we needed....a clean place to spend the night at...
The room was clean, bed sheets were clean, bathroom was clean....needed little update , but we didn't really spend that much time in the room anyways. The remote for the TV was not in the room, I guess you'd need to go to the reception desk to ask for it....but we didn't watch TV at all. People working in the hotel were nice, we didn't have any problems with anybody. Hotel has a pool....which we didn't use (because there is soooo many beautiful beaches aroud) and the jacuzzi.....not usable...I assume they haven't used it for a while. Last day we had a breakfast at the hotel, $10 a person---not really worth it, for $10 you can get better food anywhere else, but it was ok.
We had a ocean view room with a little balcony, which we really liked...We weren't disturbed by any noise from the street, maybe because we were so exhausted after all day that we passed out the minute we laid on the bed...
The location of the hotel is great, too. Across the street from the beach....beautiful beach.
One annoying thing about Jamaica...(which has nothing to do with The Gloustershire Hotel)..is that jamaicans are on the street asking for money and they'd try to sell you anything and everything ....if it's drugs, clothes...., services...they'd walk you across the street for some money....So be ready to say NO....couple of times....:))
This hotel is definetely for people who don't have high expectations, don't spend that much time in the hotel, travelers....
I'd absolutely recommend this hotel to everybody who wants to have fun in Jamaica.

My fianc? and I wanted a weekend get a way in Jamaica and wanted to experience the island, not be secluded in an all inclusive resort, we live in Miami, we have plenty of resorts right here!
We loved the hotel and we loved Jamaica. If you are looking to experience the culture, this is a cool spot. We had a smooth check-in, a complimentary drink ticket for each of us, and a bellman to carry our bags to the room (definitely needed!). We reserved an ocean view room and rather than one of the rooms in the front that everyone complains about the noise, we got a room in the back on the top floor (our bellman jokingly called it the penthouse as we hiked higher and higher) with amazing unobstructed views of the ocean. We checked the air conditioner and water since there had been some complaints we read about, but ours worked well (the air was so cold we didn't even run it on high, and usually opened the windows to let in the ocean breeze).
A few key points before I share our vacation story:
1. One night we got back to the hotel after the restaurant had closed, and the chef very graciously made us two plates of fried chicken, fries, and slaw... That is service!
2. Aside from check-in the front desk staff is rude and un-helpful.
3. Our maid did a great job with a super clean room each night. One night she left us a little candle and a lighter (guess it was obvious when we passed her in the hall that we're in love!!) I saw a German family thanking her for something she helped with and hugging her in the hall.
After our check-in and inspection of the room we were off. We experience the night life of MoBay and met a chill dread rasta that took us to local spots away from the spring breakers (we're both 30 not our crowd any more).
Our rasta friend met us at the hotel the next morning and went with us to rent a car and take a day trip to Dunns River Falls, the hibiscus gardens, and Rose Hall. He showed us another little local spot, a fishermen’s beach near dunns river falls with a natural spring with delicious water, and three or four bars and cafes filled with dreads. It was a cool experience to wash our faces and hands in the pristine waters and chill with dreads over some baba roots!
The next day we left the dread and went on our own to Negril and explored the 7 mile beach and Ricks Cafe. One more night on the town in MoBay and we left for the airport with a love for Jamaica!

This hotel is fine. It is a budget hotel so don't expect anything fancy, but the rooms and beds are clean and the hotel staff friendly. It's location is sweet; it is across the street from the beach and on the hip strip. Parties, shops, restaurants are all on the strip and within easy walking distance. If you are a stickler about long hot showers or brightly lit rooms it probably isn't for you, but if you plan to be out all the time and using the room only for sleeping I recommend it.
