I stayed 4 nights here in June for business, only because my 6 other choices in Grenoble were fully booked.
I am giving it a generous 2 stars.
First my complaints:
o no restaurant, the only meal to be found after a long day's work was at a small Carribean restraurant a good 10 mins walk away which was of Ok quality, no other restaurants around
o room service food in evening was a disgusting microwaved quiche and a pre-packed cake
o the foyer looked Ok, but the corridors look like 60s eastern-bloc housing
o my first floor room was very badly sound-proofed - with TV and baby next door all night being easily audible (perhaps due to the locked inter-connecting door into the next person's room)
o staff took 15+ very casual minutes to search for an ironing board one morning, and then another 5 mins to find an iron so that I could press my shirt
o hotel is a LONG way out of the town centre - 10 to 15 min in a car, too long to walk (and the town centre parking in June is a nightmare)
o the area around is residential and seemed to have no shops or safe-looking bars
o parking was available but very limited (about 6 cars) forcing me to park in the side street sometimes
However:
o evening staff were helpful
o bed was comfortable
o air-con worked (and was very welcome)
o breakfast had a reasonable choice
o bathroom was spotlessly clean each day
To be fair, the hotel was a building site, as the bar and reception were being re-vamped, so maybe its better now.
I hope never to stay here again - I recommend the Grande Mercure President instead.
My ratings for this hotel are:
2.0 Check in / front desk
2.0 Business service
1.0 Value
2.0 Service
2.0 Rooms
1.0 Location
5.0 Cleanliness
