Austria-Switzerland were heavily booked because of the Soccer championships but we were lucky to be referred to this hotel by the one we had stayed in on an earlier trip to Vienna.
Wonderful staff. Nothing was a bother and the rooms were very comfortable.
The hotel is a five minute walk from the Prater and from the Underground to the city. The walk to the city is very easy too.
We had four adults- a just 2 year old and one 3 months so we pressed the accommodation to the limit.
We loved our stay and would not hesitate to go back again. Thankyou Staff you deserve 10/10.

As a nuclear analytical scientist I had, and still have, to travel often to Vienna to attend United Nation meetings for the IAEA and CTBTO during the last two decades. I can not remember the number of times I went to Vienna but at least on average about 3-4 times a year during the last decade. Every time I stayed at the former Nordbahn Hotel I enjoyed it so much so that I actually felt at home, especially since the time I was automatically booked in the same spacious room with a large desk, which allowed me to work during the evenings and weekends. I feel this is an extraordinary service, which I dearly appreciate.

Austria Classic Hotel is outside of the Inner City, but conveniently located in between the Nestroyplatz and Praterstern metro stations, which are 1 or 2 stops away respectively from the Stephansdom station, which is the center of all the tourist action. The surrounding area is slightly residential though, and is on the quiet side with some suspect characters around the Praterstern metro station. That said, the proximity to the Prater Amusement park which does see families visiting must mean that it is relatively safe.
Room is average sized, but toilet is weirdly separated from the shower. Room was decently clean although toilet did have a weird smell. One main problem with the room was the lack of air-conditioning, so we had to open the windows to ventilate the room, which made it rather noisy.
For the price, the hotel is value for money, although it is more recommended for the budget conscious traveller.

We stayed at Austria Classic for 3 nights in middle March and everything was great: beginning with the staff and ending with the rooms (very cozy, very comfy, we didn't really feel like leaving the place)... The breakfast is american by definition, with a rich selection of cereals, juice, ham, cheese, coffee and , of course, delicious deserts :) The location is very good as well, with Nestroyplatz and Prater underground stations at 200 meters (making it very easy to get from the airport as well)...My only regret is that we didn't find the time to visit the free sauna , as Vienna just wouldn't let us rest for a mere second :) What can i say..not even the Brits would find anything wrong with this one

My Home in Vienna
Guest name: Spiritfisher, Washington, D.C.
The Austria Classic Hotel Wien, formally known as the Hotel Nordbahn, has been my home away from home for a number of years now. I find myself in Vienna, Austria several times a year for business meetings, and it is always nice to have a place to stay where they remember my name, and go out of their way to find me a room. The rooms are clean and efficient, and the breakfast offers options for everyone. It is just a few minutes walk to get to the center of Vienna, and in the other direction you are just moments away from the Prater park and a great opportunity for walking or biking. This is, and will, be my place to stay.
