After reading reviews we nearly cancelled our booking but so glad we didn't.
This hotel is located 5 mins walk from the Barberini metro and 10 mins walk from the Trevi fountain. Four stops on the metro to Vatican City. (We walked back - about an hour including shopping on the way).
There are cafes, bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.
The staff are are extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast of tea, coffee, juice, cereals, ham, cheese, lovely fresh bread and a selection of gateux and tarts was fresh and tasty. Because the theatre next door own the first two floors, there are a lot of steps to the rooms (85 to ours) the lift was out of order on our visit which didnt bother us because we dont like lifts anyway! They have a porter service to carry your bags up to your room.
Room was small (seems to be common in Italy for 3 star)
but adequate and clean, as was the en suite - shampoo and slippers were provided. Bed was very comfortable. We would definately stay here again, for the price it was excellent - we booked direct with the hotel and paid 90 euros per night - If you expect 5 star service dont book a 3 star hotel, I dont think you could find a better location than this for the price.

This hotel is a real dump--it might have been elegant when it was built in 1953, but the furniture in the rooms have not been replaced since that time. The carpet was dirty and matted, the wallpaper is extremely dirty and falling off in some places. The sheets did look clean. It was awful disapointment. It does not deserve any stars!

ok, it's not the best hotel in Italy, but it's not that bad. Blood stains on the bed? Condoms? I mean come on. As for the clown on the front desk, well, I'm prepared to believe that, but I stayed here a few years ago and I had no significan t problems.
