Outstanding Staff + Great Location

The best feature of this hotel is the outstanding staff . They are genuinely friendly and helpful. Not only will they do their best with any question you have, but they also always have a smile and greeting when you come in at the end of a day.
My other favorite part is the location - a quiet neighborhood street with great cafes and restaurants all around, and two nearby metro stations.
I brought a group of adult students here for 6 nights, and nearly every person in the group complimented me on my choice of the hotel. The rooms and amenities are either typical of or better than the average Parisian 3-star hotel. My room had a new, very large, and spotless bathroom, and a balcony. There was a good Parisian breakfast, with fresh croissants and rolls and plenty to eat, including hot trays with sausages and eggs. There is wireless access in the lobby (you have to pay through Orange Wi-fi).
This is my new Parisian spot!

WE arrived In Paris with no reservations and no idea of a place to stay. We ended up at the Hotel Gotty Opera. Wonderful place. The staff is friendly and helpful, helpful, helpful with smiles.
Loved the location, close to active area in city and near transportation. Located on a small quiet street, it gave us a feeling of being in the real Paris, Price is reasonable. Rooms are neat and clean, loved the balconies and large bathroom.

Good, low budget hotel

We were travelling as two couples. We booked the hotel directly with the hotel for just ?110 per room (bed only) which I think is very good for central Paris. The location is ideal for exploring the city and the hotel is near several good places to eat and some good Irish bars and the Oz cafe in order to relax and unwind in the evenings after a day exploring the city.
The hotel itself:
Reception: Average appearance. Reception staff very friendly & very good english and very helpful.
Rooms: Yes they are run down, with flaking paint and the ceiling looking like it is need of repair but the bedlinen was clean and very satisfactory. Our Room was made up daily with fresh towels changed daily also.
Bathroom: Our bathroom was clean but in need of some TLC aswell but served us adequately. The bath has no stopper and the shower hose is not fixed to wall so one has to try shower while holding the hose. Our friends bathroom was not as good as the slope in the ceiling made it impossible to have a shower as one could not stand up in the shower and then there was no stopper for the bath either so showering was quiet difficult for them but they managed.
We decided against having the breakfast there as eating out is alot cheaper and alot nicer.
Overall this hotel is adequate for those just wishing to have some where to sleep at night that is clean, quiet and central. If you are looking for a hotel with class or that is modern or that you will be spending alot of time in the hotel then I definately would not reccomend it. It really is just a place to base yourself.....up early in the morning and back late at night
Charmy hotel close to city center

We stayed at Hotel Gotty Opera for 4 nights in the middle of February 2008. We were very satisfied. Nice, cosy and clean room with clean bathroom, and friendly staff. Would recommend this hotel, and surely consider it for our future Paris trips. Cecilie and Anders, Norway

Apparently "3 Star" in Paris means something completely different than in the rest of the world - either that, or the hotel website is fudging the facts by quite a bit.
The actual location was okay for the price. It was a 5 minute walk to a major street, and to a metro station - so access to other parts of the city was easy.
The hotel itself was a dump. The lobby was presentable, but I knew there was going to be a problem when the desk clerk seemed to not be able to find the room corresponding to our reservation. After a while of staring at the desk and shuffling papers, she eventually brought out a large clump of keys, detangled one and handed it to us.
Upon entry into our room, we noticed a layer of dust on everything (I'm guessing the room hadn't been used in a while). The wallpaper was peeling off of the walls, the carpet was dirty, there were waterstains on the walls and ceilings, the bed was very saggy in the middle, and large clumps of mold were growing in the bathroom. The only good thing I could say was, "at least there were no bugs."
The location of the hairdryer was positioned so that to use it, you had to straddle the bidet. But it was also positioned so that every time you used the sink, you knocked it off the wall. Which means, the sink was nearly on top of the bidet.
You could also hear everything out in the hallway, and even in the other rooms.
Several times, we returned to our rooms to find that the cleaning person had left the window open. Our window looked into the courtyard in the middle of the hotel, but it also had a fire escape just outside. Luckily nothing was ever missing, but it still makes you feel uneasy that all of your belongings were open to anyone for the taking.
Breakfast at the hotel was 10 Euro per person. We chose not to partake in this option, and instead went to the bakery around the corner, where the both of us had breakfast for only 7 Euro.
My husband and I would not ever stay at this hotel again, nor do we recommend anyone else stay at this hotel.
