Reception staff unfriendly - no smiles to be seen.
Too noisy between rooms, obviously no sound proofing. First morning got woken up at 3am by voices in hall way, second morning got woken at 1am by voices from next room. Every little noise could be heard from the next room.
Hotel receptionist said that our next hotel in Erding was close so we got a taxi, ended up costing 80 euros (was a long distance away).
Small room but clean.
Good central location.
Good breakfast.

We booked for a week and weren't told on check-in that there was construction happening. We woke up at 8am with the sound of drilling filling the room -- the floor was vibrating.
We were offered a different room but the racket could be heard on every level. The construction was to be all day, all week. Not exactly suitable for a relaxing holiday.
We decided to check out and find another hotel and this is where we found the true measure of Hotel Daniel. They refused to let us check out - they tried every trick in the book to force us to stay the entire week. They tried to tell us that they had already processed our payment and they were unable to make a refund. It was appalling. We stood our ground and after 40 minutes they finally settled our account. I can see that those tactics would have browbeaten many other tourists to stay.
We then transferred to a nearby hotel that was cheaper, had bigger, more modern rooms, a better breakfast and was still quite central - and no construction!
I have never seen such bad - unethical - service as we experienced at Hotel Daniel. It is quite a dated hotel that is getting by on its location, but it isn't worth it. You can find cheaper and better two mins walk away.

Hotel Daniel is in an ideal location. It is within walking distance from the main train station and is close to the central shopping and eating area. The room was small but very clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and the breakfast layout is good. Generally no problems with speaking english. Must go to drink and eat at the Schneider House straight down the main shopping strip and past the Marienplatz square.

While its decor is a bit 70s-fabulous, Hotel Daniel met our needs, offering a well-priced, centrally-located hotel for our twenty-four hours in Munich.
