We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2006, in the middle of a heatwave and really couldn't fault it.
We arrived too early and no room was available, so we went away for an hour or so and came back. We were then given the key to a room, which, when we opened the door, hadn't been cleaned. On returning to reception this was dealt with quickly and we were given keys to a different room (with a much better view!)
The room was fairly basic, but clean, with big windows, and, best of all when the temperature was over 40 degrees centigrade, really good air conditioning!
We only used the room as a base to explore from, but the english speaking reception were very helpful and the location was excellent to explore from with bars and restaurants within easy walking distance and easy metro station access.
All in all we had a great time, not high luxury, but clean, comfortable and friendly and a fantastic weekend.

Arrived at the hotel. lovely receptioon, friendly staff. Got up to our room which, on arrival, looked basic but clean. However, on closer inspection, we discovered that both the blanket and top sheet on the bed was covered in what appeared to be pubic hair. Switched from a double to a twin room overnight whilst they waited for the cleaners to arrive the next day to "clean" the room again. When checking that this had been done properly the next day, we once again found a hair coated bed. Staff on reception handled the situation very well, and were consistantly friendly. Eventually, they offered to make our twin beds into a double, which we accepted. Besides this incident, we found the hotel to be exactly as we required. Goerge Opera is in a great situation, a one minute walk from St Georges metro, which is just a few stops from all the major sites of interest. Feels as though it's in a more French area rather than a touristy place, although a few minutes from Pigalle, an area to definetely avoid. All in all, despite the pube-strewn bed, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
