We stayed here for 4 nights in mid June. The hotel was quite expensive but reasonable for 4* Taormina. We were disappointed with the room we were allocated but as we had pre-booked 2 day trips decided not to ask for a change as we weren't going to be in the room much.
The hotel is very noisy due to old plumbing, early morning all you can hear is the toilet systems working. The bathrooms also appear a little old.
The pool was nice, as reviewers have mentioned before there are a lot of steps. The lift takes you to the bottom of the hotel but the only way down to the pool are the steps. Sunbeds are on the edge of the pool and located under oranges trees which occasionally do drop their fruit! Visually the hotel looks very pretty from the pool as along the steps and terracing plants and shrubs have been well thought out. My one complaint about the pool is that although you were given free beach towels around the pool these were stained and tatty.
Breakfast was average/good but not excellent.
The hotel does reside in an excellent location, very close to Corsa Umberto (the main high street), it is also almost opposite the bus/coach station which is convenient for day trips and is very close to the top of the cable car.

This hotel is just a few minutes walk from the centre of Taormina and as it is high up on the hillside, allows you fantastic views of the bays below and Mount Etna in the distance. We stayed in a double fronted sea view room which was tastefully furnished and well equipped. The staff were friendly and helpful and recommended the best restaurants to try in the town. Although the pool is reached by walking down 220 steps, it is a beautiful area in which to relax, have a drink or bite to eat at the pool bar, and enjoy the spectacular views of the towns above and below. The pool area also has shower and changing rooms with full length mirrors so you can check on your sunburn! Breakfast is served on the terrace so you can enjoy your coffee whilst watching the boats sailing in the bays below. This is a hotel ideally located for exploring the town and surrounding attractions, whether on foot or by catching a nearby bus. If you are on foot though, everything is either up or down!

Overpriced

We stayed 4 nights during April.
We found the hotel overpriced. Almost ?400 for a triple. The room was just ok, nothing more than that besides from being small if you take the price into consideration.
The breakfast was just nice: bread, cereals, some cake assortment, cheese, ham and. However found it very reasonable for the common Italian level
Staff was a sort of unconcerned to guests, not rude but not pleasant.
The hotel must is the breathtaking views you can get from the balconies.
Location was 10 minutes walking to Taormina centre. Taormina is just lovely and well worth a visit. Don’t miss the Roman Theatre and the public gardens.
Enjoyed our stay

We stayed here for 10 nights. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean. Air-conditioning was effective and quiet; there was no guidance on using the controls, but it was reasonably easy to work out how to set them. There was always plenty of hot water in the bathroom, although the shower was very slow to respond to the temperature controller.
There were no tea/coffee-making facilities in the room. The TV had 4 English language (news) channels, 2 German channels, 1 French, 1 Spanish and a host of Italian – including a 24-hour weather channel that forecast worse weather than we actually encountered (except for Etna, which was dire), for our excursions.
We never had any problems with noise, despite our room (602) being close to the bar/restaurant entrance.
Breakfasts had a good range of cereals, bread/buns etc. The hot food was always scrambled egg, streaky bacon and either tomatoes or mushrooms. If you have an early excursion, you can get breakfast before the usual 7.30 start, but you have to ask specifically, the day before, each time – don’t assume that someone else will already have asked. We never ate dinner at the hotel.
We found the reception staff reasonably friendly and helpful.
The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. It’s right by the bus station – very handy for excursions as the tour companies don’t seem to do hotel pick-ups in Taormina, instead starting from the bus station. Even with heavy luggage you could easily use the bus to get from Catania airport to this hotel – instead of spending a small fortune on a pre-booked taxi, as we did.
