We spent a full week at the Faros. The rooms look just like the photos; clean and even large for a European hotel with very tall windows giving the feel of a small balcony. The beds were comfortable. There is an elevator. The hotel is located close to the Blue Mosque, Haya Sofya, Grand Bazaar, the Cistern, Cemberlitas Hamam and Topkapi Palace. The metro is out front but couldn't be heard thru the windows. The call to prayer could faintly be heard when the city was quiet, but wouldn't wake you. Though we usually eat away from hotels we enjoyed several very nice dinners plus daily brkfst at the hotel. The patio offered great people watching as locals rushed to school or work and tourists came and went. The staff were all very friendly. They spoke perfect English and eagerly welcomed our attempts at speaking Turkish. The best word they taught us was "harika" (wonderful). The hotel and people indeed were harika. We very highly recommend the Faros Hotel Istanbul.

This is a very good location in Instanbul. The staff is very kind, the room are modern, clean and vell furnished.
As the hotel is located in the most touristical part of Istanbul some rooms may be noisy.
This small hotel is definitively a very good place to stay a few days to discover Istanbul.

This hotel was suggested and booked by our travel agent. We had stayed at another hotel in the city, and we did not like the location or the attitude of the staff there. However, when we arrived at the Faros Hotel we were impressed. It is not glamorous, but is in a great location, close to transport, and within easy walking distance of most of the major tourist attractions in Istanbul ( the 2 big mosques, Haghia Sophia and Sultanahmet, the cistern, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar) and with many cafes and restaurants to choose from nearby. There are only 4 floors, with 6 rooms on each floor. Ours was no. 405, and we had a bedroom, good sized bathroom with a great shower, a little balcony with a view to the water, and even tea and coffee making facilities! Everything was very clean, and the staff were most helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included in the tariff, which was very reasonable, and we would recommend it.
A Good Choice!

We spent six nights at the Faros Hotel from late December to early January, 2008. Our family had two suites and one double room for our stay. All three rooms were modern, very comfortably furnished and absolutley clean. They do look like the pictures. The suites are corner rooms on the first three floors. We had the ones on first and second floor and initially we had some concern about how quiet they would be because of all the street traffic and the restaurant directly under the first floor room. Noise was not a problem.
The breakfast was very good with a large selection every morning.
We found all of the people who worked in the hotel and restaurant were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was also a popular place for dinner.
The location was the best. We could walk to many of the sites. The tram that stops across the street was very easy to use. As we walked around Sulthanamet, I recognized the names of some of the hotels I had read about when researching where to stay. Some were in quieter areas but I still liked ours better because of the location and friendliness of the employees.

We stayed 4 nights last November. It's very well located, just two minutes walking from main atractions in Sulthanamet. The room was modern, clean and charming. It's surrounded of many restaurants and you have a tranv station in front of the hotel. We recomend Faros Hotel to everyone.
