I stayed in the Comfort Inn, Kensington as I was attending a conference in London. The hotel is actually nearer Earls Court than Kensington, if you know the area.
My room was small, the bedroom was cramped and had mildew/water damage/damp around the top of the window and spreading down the wall. The bed was very uncomfortable. In the bathroom there were cracked floor tiles, wall tiles and missing trim from around the bath. There was an odd smell to the room, all in all it just didn't feel right.
I ended up eating at the Tesco opposite as there are not many restaurants near by if you do not know the area.
When I went down for breakfast, nothing was being served.
In the morning on check out, I asked if I should hail a cab or if they could call me one. They supposedly called one, the concierge (or at least he/hotel said he was) was outside smoking in casual clothes, and then ran off down the street. One dodgy unlicensed cab called by the hotel did arrive for another couple, and at that point I decided to take my chance walking.
I would advise people not to stay here if possible.

I was a little hesitant to stay here after reading all the negative reviews, but it turned out much better than I expected. It was very clean - they did an excellent job cleaning the room each day. It wasn't huge, but there was plenty of room. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way a couple of time to help us. And finally, it felt very safe. I stayed there for almost two weeks and I would definitely stay there again next time I go to London.

I picked this hotel for location and it was very good. The tube station is close by and there were lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Our room was somewhat dingy and the bed was awful. We were told by the front staff that the hotel will be closing in 6 months for complete refurbishing, which it needs badly. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was very good. I would stay there again if they remodel.

This family of four spent 7 nights in two rooms in the Comfort Inn Kensington. We are not picky travellers, as we normally travel in a 26 foot travel trailer. The rooms were tiny, even by travel trailer standards. Though we booked non-smoking rooms, our kids' room stank of smoke every day. Luckily the window opened and they could air it out while in it. Hot water in either room was a gamble. We had real hot water only about 60% of the time, luke warm about 10% of the time and freezing cold the remainder. The website advertises guest laundry facilities, but when we inquired were told that they send out all laundry. One shirt and one pair of jeans cost about 8 pounds or $16. We washed other garments out in the sink. We got clean towels each day and the beds were always made, but I don't think the room was vacuumed the entire time we stayed. We asked one time for someone to check our bathroom fan, as it was very noisy and took close to an hour to shut off, and the desk clerk freaked out and told my husband to "calm down" as he had given us a "large room". By large he meant you could pull the chair out from under the desk, because in my kids' room, they couldn't. We were very calm and simply asked if this was normal and could someone check it. We never asked for anything else while we were there. We were kind of scared to! Breakfast was adequate, but the same menu every day we stayed. To sum up, I have stayed a lot of places and truly only expect cleanliness, hot water, and a good attitude from the folks who work there. I would not recommend the Comfort Inn Kensington to anyone.

This hotel is rather utilatian in style, very small rooms with no frills. They do supply a hair dryer and a tv. The facilities are obvious old; a little mildew around the tub area other wise the house keeping seemed adiquate. The lift seemed a little iffy but got the job done. The staff were very helpful in giving directions and booking tours. The underground was about 3 city blocks from the hotel with connections for the picadilly and circle lines.
Harrods, the natural history museum and Victoria & Albert museum are within a couple of stops of the Earl Court station. We walked to Kensington palace, the walk was around 30 minutes each way. We had a discount rate so breakfast was not included in the price; however we found several good restraunts between the hotel and the tune station. (Pub, Italian, Asian) . Heathrow airport was 45 minutes or 50 pounds by taxi.
