We were staying in the hotel 2 nights in May 2008. We've found hotel by chance and were really surpised quality of service, rooms and fiendly personnel of this hotel. For example: my wife forgot her earrings in the room, we found it in the evening in Rome only. We've called hotel and they found it and sent them to Russia with no problem and i would like to say thank them for that.
We've paid 75 Euro per night for double room.
For my point of view this hotel can be qualified more than 3 stars, the only problem - personnel's english is not very good, which can be trouble for foreign tourists.
I recommend this hotel for everybody who plan to visit Naples.

We stayed there 3 nights. Highly recommended. Very affordable. Very clean. Very well located, close to everything, including train station and bus stop. The restaurant recommended by the staff was very good, we returned there every nights. Very good advice from the staff about things to do and transportation. We parked the car for free in front of the hotel. Although I would stick to main streets in the area at night and avoid dark corners, we walked around during the day without fear.

The hotel is located just off the main square where the rail station is. This isn't that important as it is a longish walk with luggage and not really far enough to use a taxi. Naples has a pretty good transport system so a hotel located next to a metro in another part of the city would be at least as good.
The area around the station can be very rough. During the day there are hundreds of stalls selling designer gear (D&G underpants or Nike trainers for 5 euros anyone?), the roads are very busy and any pedestrian crossings are ignored. The traffic will slow down but don't expect it to stop. We never saw an accident but if the drivers are used to the death defying inches from a pedestrian poor old North Europeans aren't! At night we took a wrong turning and were quickly surrounded by pimps and prostitutes of the rougher variety. Most of the attractions of Naples are not in this area.
The hotel is bright and modern. Reception was friendly enough and it is my fault if French, German or Spanish didn't work. The room was well furnished with masses of wardrobe space and the bathroom was large. However there was no seat on the toilet and despite asking one was not provided. If this happens to you there is a loo round the corner from the lift which nobody else seemed to find.
Breakfast was very poor. On two of the four mornings they had run out of cereal and although there was a supermarket next door nobody went for replenishments and there was only sweet bun type things on offer. We didn't see any fruit.
The area at the back of the hotel was very nineteenth century. Walking up to a restaurant recommended by our guide we walked through dark, narrow cobbled streets that could have been used for a Dickens movie with very little alteration. Interesting but you need at least two of you. This area of Naples reminded me of Casablanca or Marrakesh rather than an European city. In contrast we took the metro to other parts where genuine D&G rubbed shoulders with Armani and Versace et al with pretty houses perched on the hills giving picture book views. I thought it a fascinating city but if I went back I would not go to the San Pietro - not that it was as bad as that makes it sound.

I stayed at Hotel San Pietro with my friend and we had a fabulous long weekend. The Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is located very close to the transport hub in Garibaldi square which made trips to Mount Vesuvius and Pompei very accessable and cheap too ( 5 Euro's return ticket). We did find great difficulty in finding somewhere to drink in the enevings however but after chatting to hotel staff they pointed us in the direction of a well priced bar (if not the only bar in the area!). One of the staff members Joseph even gave us tickets to visit pompei ruins for free and was at our beck and call for any assistance we required. The rooms were spacious, clean and well decorated. Not 5* for England but certainly 4-5* for the area. It is also very close to places to eat, whatever the time of the day or night. I would definately recommend this hotel.
