The main complaint we had about this hotel was that there was NO air conditioning or fans in the rooms. We were on the 4th floor and it was the end of June. It was SO hot in our room that it was hard to sleep. The room was clean, the staff was fine. Seemed pretty pricey for what we got/didn't get at $300 a night. We were told by our travel agent that it was location, location, location - but we would have paid anything for some cool air! Thought about switching hotels, but had prepaid the 3 nights so that would have been pointless. The breakfast was limited, but at least it was cool in the basement where it was served. The television didn't work (didn't really care, but it was just one more disappointment).

This was, by far, the worst hotel where I stayed. I had lowered my expectations when I read some reviews here, but it was very disappointg anyway.
The rooms are terribly old and cheap. The sheets altought seens to be clean, where also very old. The room decoration was inexistent, with faded RED walls and cardboard pictures hanged. Fortunatelly I had a room with hot water working perfectly, but I've heard that mine was an exception.
Coffee break was also terrible, with artificial juices and rock hard breads.
On the plus side: If you are coming to enjoy Rome, this Hotel will help you to know the city, as nobody would want to spend some time on it.

We were sent here when our room at La Griffe (sister hotel) had "water damage." I have learned that "water damage" means the hotel was over booked. It was awful. Awful. I am still itching from that night and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. La Griffe is lovely. When we finally were able to check in I was very happy.

Pictures on the website create an unrealistic expectation.

Myself and my partner were dreading staying at this hotel after the majorly disappointing reviews and the pictures posted so far. The first impression on entering the hotel was not overly bad, but the place looked very tired and in need of some serious money being thrown at it. I can appreciate that hotels in Italy and Europe do not match the expectations of that which we expect in England (even by travelodge standards), but they were probably milking this a bit here.
Our room looked similar to that portrayed on the website, but the pictures were probably taken many years ago. The bedcovers were tired and discoloured, the bathroom was ok but the shower cubicle should probably have been ripped out due to the fact that the (broken and shattered) doors didn't shut properly, thus rendering them rather redundant. The description 'wet room' seems appropriate in this case. The room had no air conditioning but I wasn't really expecting this.
The location of the hotel isn't that great, and if we were to visit again, I'd definitely stay closer to the main attractions, given that train station areas are rather unsavoury generally speaking.
Overall however, the room was clean and it was cheap, so I wasn't disappointed. Had I paid twice as much, my description would be somewhat different.
The day before we left, my partner noticed a couple in reception complaining about the state of their room and how it didn't match the pictures on the website. I remember thinking that the reception staff must hear that an awful lot......

The breakfast is awfull, the hotel adds water in the milk and just offers bread, coffee and tea, besides the "watermilk". Staff is not polite with guests. And don't expect much cleanliness because you won't have it at Hotel Nizza.
