Old hotel in need of updating in rooms. Location is very convenient to sights and central train station. However, in red light district. Desk people were very helpful with logistics related to sightseeing. Breakfast was nice as was breakfast room. Our room had holes in the carpet and was very worn. Beds comfy. Bathroom was great size and looked to be fairly recently redone with tiling throughout.

Good Choice for the Money

I got a decent deal on a single room at the Hotel du Nord and after reading hotel reviews, decided to book there. The hotel is very close to the train station which is very accessible from the airport- so in other words the airport to hotel trip is a no brainer and quick. The hotel itself is basic- it is in a nice old house which is not decorated particularly well and a bit worn down in parts. The room had a small twin bed but a very nice bathroom, flat screen t.v. with lots of stations, tea-coffee making possibilities, was clean and quiet. The staff was quite friendly. Breakfast was a buffet and a good one at that. For the money this was a good deal all and all. I would recommend it.
Excellent small hotel

A friend and I stayed at the Du Nord for 3 nights at the start of December. We had spent many weeks checking out different hotels and reading reviews before going for the Du Nord.
We were slightly aprehensive before we got there as reviews had been mixed for this hotel, but we found it to be an excellent small hotel, very clean, good sized twin room nicely furnished, large bathroom with both bath and shower.
Breakfast was a buffet of cold meats, cheese, yoghurt cerals, fruit etc, plentiful and lovely and fresh.
Check in/ out, was very easy, staff were pleasant, free internet in the lobby at all times.
The only thing that some people might miss was the absence of a bar or lounge, but we knew that when we booked it.
Location was great for the station, Tivoli, shops etc.
Absolutely no problems with Red light area mentioned in some of the other reviews, I guess it's there if you want to go looking for it.
Would recomend this hotel highly and would stay there again.
