Rooms too small but good location

The Taanilinna is a conversion of an historic town house and is well located on the E edge of Old Tallinn, within walking distance of most of the sights.
The d?cor is tasteful and the breakfast room has an interesting collection of old photographs. However, our room was uncomfortably small with two narrow beds and a tiny bathroom. Access was via four flights of stairs (no elevator).
The buffet breakfast was adequate but not memorable. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The hotel’s official four star rating is one notch too high.

We have just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay in Tallinn. The Taanilinna is a cosy (20 room) hotel perfectly located in a quiet street in the Old Town. Full of character. Clean and bright rooms with very comfortable beds. Very helpful staff.
The medieval Old Town itself is delightfully unspoilt and is an ideal size for exploring on foot. Although small relative to other cities, there are so many hidden courtyards, alleyways and views that you miss first time round.
We found the local people (both Estonian and Russian) to be extemely welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend the Peppersack, the Contravento and the Grillhaus Daube Restaurants and were very impressed by the high quality of the food at very reasonable prices.
One of the best, if not the best, city breaks we have enjoyed.
