I was in South Beach for my first time, and I could not wait to check-in to my room. When I arrived it was hotter inside that lobby then it was outside. Then I had to wait on the front desk clerk. She stated she was the general manager of the place, but i think she did not even have a clue as to what she was doing. After the crappy service provided by the "General Manager" I got to my room. It was on the third floor. The room smelt like [--]. The bed was covered with love stains, and there was even hair on the pillows. The shower you have two options cold, or freezing. After seeing all this I came down and spoke with the front desk manager Alex. I told him about my room and if there was anything he could do. I was told that all rooms where booked and that the smell was proberly from their pool on the roof which broke, and caused the third floor to flood, and that there was nothing he could do for me. I found out later they dont even have a pool. This place is a joke, and a rip-off. They dont even have fire exits, and or signs. this place is a death trap. I dont recommend this hotel not even for the homeless.

I went with 3 friends, all in our mid 20's..we never stay at high end hotels...we are frugal young people...so I wasn't expecting anything from this hotel...except tranquility. But this hotel was a complete nightmare!!
Short Summary:
1. No hot water on the last 2 days..this was a 'city wide' problem or so they say.
2. 1 towel for 4 people. Had to ask for more towels daily. Took hours to get 2 extra towels. They told us their Dryer was out of service...lie #5,000...I just think they don't have enough towels in the hotel.
3. Brown round stains on covers/sheets...short black curly hair on pillow cases. Do they not change the sheets when customers come and go? And seriously wouldn't a hotel replace the sheets once they have DARK nasty stains on them.
4. Maggots inside the drawers...DO NOT UNPACK....
5. "Free Wireless Internet" ONLY works downstairs in the lobby and you will be getting booted offline every 2minutes....so have fun with that too.
6. No water pressure...good luck getting cleaned/showered.
7. Paint falling from the top of the window sill...Asbestos!
8. Asked for an iron - never came...after multiple calls. Gave up and tried to steam my clothes in the bathroom.
9. $9 for a continental breakfast that was oranges/bananas/toast. When was the last time you payed $9 for that? ha! ridiculous.
10.Horrible customer service (except for 1 gentlemen)...If you meet Melissa make sure to tell her she is famous for being completely clueless and being the worst employee of the year. (read below to understand just how bad she sucks)
11. Got some kind of rash on my right arm/hand...god only knows from what...
12. No shuttle to/from Airport...do not be fooled....
Long Summary:
This place looks like its going out of business...
the 'renovations' were done in the lobby ONLY!
It all started the moment we arrived, we started to check in with OUR BUDDY Melissa. Clueless!!!! the following is not even an exxageration: she couldn't find our reservation, lo and behold...she would then start to type one letter/number into the computer and pick up the phone, talk for 2 minutes and resume on the computer. Type in another letter and pick up the phone.
After 15minutes of her just typing things into the computer to try and find us...without ever hitting Enter because she was still picking up the phone...this was when my patience was starting to run out.
I'm usually pretty calm - at first I'm thinking ok she HAS TO pick up the phone right? I mean there is one other guy there and he is helping other customers...but then i realized..HE ISN'T PICKING UP THE PHONE..he is dealing with the customer infront of him - the way she should. It took us about 35minutes to check in, calling Expedia, everything....turns out someone typed in the last name incorrectly...PROBABLY MELISSA! We were asking her if they don't use confirmation numbers instead of names, she said no. what a stupid system i thought.
Then we arrive at our room...it looks horrible ...(compared to the lobby) but not surprised due to what we payed.
First thing I turn to do is open the curtains....PAINT IS LITERALLY FALLING ALL AROUND ME (say hello to asbestos)...I'm thinking crap my bed is right next to this...nice.
Then I go to unpack. I open the drawer that my friend isn't already using ...i see these little brown things so i take a closer look....BUGS! everywhere. little maggot type bugs. disgusting...OBVIOUSLY i keep my clothes in my suitcase and warn my friend whom rushes over to take out all her clothes from the drawer and dust them out to get anything off of them.
I look over to the bed where I had been unpacking my clothes and the top sheet has oh so many stains it was just disgusting looking. And i'm talking about brown dark round stains. I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING...I mean the least a hotel can do is that once it has dark stains that don't come out is replace the sheet. They obviously could care less about their customers. I look at the pillow - it is covered in hair...DO THEY EVEN CHANGE THE COVERS WHEN CUSTOMERS COME AND GO? obviously not!
If there is one thing that will make me not want to stay at a hotel is sleeping in a bed where all the sheets/pillow covers...have been used by God knows how many people and they haven't been cleaned. I mean I don't know other people's hygienes. I'm soooo glad to be back in my own bed and sheets...

Claremont Hotel is far away to be 5 stars hotel, but for the price I was well satisfied.
The service that you receive is amazing by the people that works there. The room are clean and very confortable.
If you have any inquiry just ask and the staff will be just more pleased to help you out with your request.
At first, I wasn't sure about the hotel mostly because of the price that Expedia offer. I only book for 3 days. I got there and the temperature was around 85degree, and the A/C wasn't working. They switch me with an upgrade charge free.
After my 3 days, I decide to stay there for my entire week. When I re-book my room for the rest of the week they advised me that the continental breakfest was NOT included when you book thru Expedia and some other website, but since I booked my second part of the week directly with the hotel (at the same price that expedia offered) I was allowed to get the continental breakfest.
Don't expect eggs, beacon and all that stuff... you get bagel, toast, muffin and apple with coffea and juice. Wich is better form my point of view then the Bugger King across the street.
Overall beside the little thing that happen with the beakfest I was very satisfied with this hotel.
Next time I come down to Miami, I am probably going to stay to the Claremont Hotel, but I am not booking EVER with Expedia.

This hotel was provided to by a company my boyfriend works for. They paid for a block of rooms up front. When the guys showed up (on time and late) they were told the rooms were already sold. The hotels finally got the guys into rooms, but not the ones the company asked for. One room up stairs was suppose to be king bed and it had 2 twins. One night when he went to sleep he found bugs in one bed and then was bit that night. House keeping was told and when the front desk was asked why the room wasn’t clean by 3pm and if they took care of the bugs he said he had not heard about it. He went up with me and told me the guy was a drama queen it wasn’t bed bugs and it wasn’t urgent. He now has 2 bites on his arm one is peeling the skin off. When my bf checked in he had his daughter and I because we drove him down and the bed had a pee stain in it, the bathroom had cracks in the tile and the door wouldn’t give us our key back. They moved us to the king size he was suppose to get and we had to fight for a refrigerator, the bathroom was still a mess. It has close to no pressure in the water everything is cracked and there is not bath, only shower. The wireless is not in every room and you do not have to pay for access. They said there is wireless in every room but when there’s a lot of people of the wireless it will bog down the single (not true its only in the lobby and there are hackers waiting to watch your every move to steal your information). You can walk up to the front desk and ask for any key in the hotel. I walked my bf to work so I could get my truck because there is no onsite parking because the parking area is not for visiting guest, and when I came back I asked for the 2nd key to the room. He said it wasn’t there, which means someone in Miami has a key to this room other than him or myself. Real Safe!!!!! After I had a full load in my truck and went for the rest of my stuff is when he looked at me and asked if I wasn’t with (he addressed my bf by last name) and I looked at him and asked him if he should of asked me that BEFORE he had house keeping open the door for me. This hotel is NOT up to building code, the front desk takes advantage of most visitors not knowing Spanish. They do not change bed sheets and blankets while you are still staying there, they will sell your room to someone else doesn’t matter if you paid for it or not. The prices are NOT the same for everyone. I saw him give three different prices for the same room and same days for three different people. The house keeping finally has a real cart and they are very sweet. The breakfast girl is very sweet, but there isn’t much there for the guest. Yes everything is in walking distance of the hotel, just don’t ask for directions from the front desk. I ended up on 95 trying to get to Publix.
