I just returned from staying at the Ramada Inn by the Banff Trail C Train station. I imagine that it is the same one in the review posted by the doctor from the UK as our experince was almost identical. To start with I think the rates must have been inflated because it was Stampede 'Week. There is no way our room was worth $221/day! As in the last review the room was not clean and the bathroom smelled of urine. We had to ask every day for extra towels as there were four of us and only three towels delivered. I thought the continental breakfast was OK but he was right on about the garbage bin being right below the food. The light fixtures in the room weren't dangling but were missing lightbulbs and we even had one broken lightbulb. Some of the staff were alright but some were rather surly. They didn't seem very knowledgable about the city either. I always thought that the Ramada Inns had good reputations. If that is generally true then this Inn is certainly letting the name down.
I would say this facility is in great need of renovation and upgrading if they expect to command those prices!

We were on a 3 week holiday in Canada having started in Vancouver. Our first stop was at the Ramada Ltd. near Vancouver airport which was sastisfactory. We then moved to Ramada Ltd. downtown Vancouver. This was excellent, although the rooms were small and the breakfast room was rather cramped. The continental breakfast was sumptous and highly recommended. Service was friendly and the staff were helpful. We travelled through the Rockies staying in variousplaces. Finally we landed in Calgary and booked into Ramada Ltd. This was our worst nightmare. The hotel was untidy almost dirty, rooms were smelly, the blankets were tatty, window curtains had holes in them and looked moth eaten. The light fittings were hanging off the walls askew and some of them did not work as were some of the other fittings in the room. The continental breakfast was a joke and there was a mountainous bin filled to the brim with dicarded plates, cups and food placed unhygienically near the food. I am a doctor and I was appalled by the lack of basic hygiene. This is a disgrace to the Ramada brand name. The only saving grace was the reception staff were friendly and helpful. I will not recommend Ramada Ltd Calgary to any friends or relatives. Ramada management must take note of this report and rectify these shocking and severe shortcomings in this hotel.

Ramada in Motel Village was recommended by the Calgary Blues & Roots Travel Agent as being a convenient location within walking distance to the festival and even offered a special' festival rate. The walking distance was the only valid statement. The room - 157 - assigned to me was infected with bugs -- the furnishings were shabby and worn. After being attacked by the resident bed bugs in the night, I left the Ramada and checked in to the motel next door at the same rate. Suggest you check with Calgary Health to see if the Ramada has addressed the bug issue if you are desperate enough to consider this Ramada.
