Loved the oasis of calm..

I recently stayed in the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful, the room was modern, extremely clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated in simple neutral colours. Excellent value for money.
The hotel is excellently situated for easy walking to the town centre bars and restaurants. It combines cloistered peaceful corridors and courtyard with all the modern facilities one could wish for.
People who expect five star facilities for three star prices will be disappointed but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to return. My only wish would be to have tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.

The architecture is lovely. Has charm. The staff at the reception is nice for most of them (3 out of 4). Just the rooms and especially the restaurant look like the ones of an average boarding school .
The quality of the food for the breakfast is below average - or average if you eat everything ;-) and are not too regarding for cleanliness. In fact you HAVE TO take a tray (difficult to find a clean one - as well as for the knifes, forks and spoons, cups, and glasses!!). If you do not take a dirty tray, the staff is bringing you one at your table- to avoid soiling the tablecloth !! - are we in a hotel ??!! I had a look the first day and had breakfast out the next ones...
I stay 6 days in Granada. Way too long. People are not friendly and often rude in this town. Too many tourists I guess. 3 days would have been more than enough.

Don't be fooled by the three stars . . . it is not a three-star hotel

Most venues rate the Macia Monasterio Los Basilios as a three-star hotel but we think it deserves only one. The building is charming but the furniture in the rooms and common areas reminded us of homeless shelters we've volunteered at. We think there are so many alternatives in Granada for the same or a few more Euros to choose instead. We left the hotel within an hour of check in - we stayed at the NH Victoria and loved it. Also, the Macia Monasterio Los Basilios is off the beaten path and very depressing.
