I stayed here with my husband & 2 children for 1 night as we were at a wedding at the race course. We paid ?80 for the night on a wedding rate.
This hotel is definately not fantastic,( I am wondering where the people leaving great reviews have stayed before!!) but it is also not terrible.
Plus points: Staff were very friendly & helpful, very convenient for racecourse(& i presume the rest of doncaster), huge tv with lots of channels. very comfy bed, ladies toilets in the bar are very clean & obviously been recently upgraded.
minus points: room was too hot but having windows open wasn't an option as there are no safety features & couldn't risk having my manic 2 yr old wake in the night & attempt to climb out!! Also being right on the road the traffic noise is an issue!( it was constant too throughout the whole night!) Considering the supposed recent refurb our room(101!!) was looking quite tired, bathroom floor was filthy, just old ground in dirt but not what you expect to see in any good hotel. wouldn't of dared use the bath though as the taps were disgusting with black gunk whole bathroom needed replacing or at least a damn good scrub!! Breakfast wasn't that well organised, we had to ask if they did a cooked breakfast, but food was alright. Parking is ridiculous, if you get there early & wish to leave early next day you will need to find out who's cars are blocking you in so you can leave!!
All in all not a bad stay, don't expect luxury it's just a convenient base. Sure there are worse but know there are much better for less ?.

I stayed in a single room for one night. The hotel is on a roundabout opposite Doncaster race course, a £4 taxi ride from the station .On arrival I was greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist. My room was a single and was right at the front of the hotel but I didn't find road noise a problem. The room was a bit old fashioned but did have LCD television; the bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was good - they gave me a huge helping of bacon and scrambled egg; cereals etc are buffet style. For £50 a good choice.

My advice would be to avoid this hotel, we stayed there on the 22nd September 2007, the service is appauling, we paid extra for a Deluxe room, when we arrived the room was unserviced, the bed hadnt been made, there was a bottle of lubricant on the bed, a used condom on the floor, rubbish scattered everywhere, we had to well over an hour for somebody to clean the room, and the reception staff were unhelpful, this was the 8th time we stayed and after that ordeal we certainly wont be returning.

A mid-sized hotel about a mile from the middle of Doncaster, very close to the race course. It's also on the main route out of town for the ambulance station and the secondary glazed windows often struggle to dampen the street noise.
The decor is a bit faded and tired and some of the bathrooms look a bit clapped out. Some of the rooms, however, are very nice and have had a fair amount of money spent on them. Avoid Room 101, apart from the obvious reason, if at all possible. My mate stopped in there and the bath was about the same size as the sink.
The restaurant was a shambles however. A simple meal may take up to an hour to arrive after the cook (I won't dignify it by calling him chef) drives across to Asda for the ingredients. No, really.
