This hotel is amazing for the value. We paid no more than we would pay at a hostel (55 euro for the two of us), and we had a clean private room, private bath, air conditioner and TV. The room was small, but suited us fine. The hotel is a little away from the central area, but the subway system in paris is terrific for travelling around the city. If you are simply looking for the clean, private place to sleep, this is great.

Great hotel, very clean and nice staff. Rooms are well decorated and not small. Breakfast quite simple and not worth the EUR 10.

A good option for the Porte de Versailles

The Hotel Des Provinces is a mid-range hotel that is in a good location for the Porte de Versailles convention centre. I stayed at the hotel for two nights from 16th October 2006 to visit the Expo centre. The hotel reception staff were largely helpful and spoke good English. When I checked into the hotel earlier than the check-in time, the room was not ready but I was able to leave my luggage at the reception desk. On returning a few hours later after the check-in time, the room was available. I was allocated a double room on the sixth floor and directed towards Europe's slowest elevator! The room itself was compact but certainly sufficient for my short stay, and appeared to be decorated in a
quite unusual nautical style. The bathroom was well-lit and moderately sized. Both the room and the bathroom were clean and well-maintained by the housekeeping staff throughout my stay. Breakfast was included in the price. Coffee, fruit juice, breads, cakes, meat, cheese, preserves, cereal and yogurt were available in the basement breakfast room.
I would recommend the hotel for those wishing to visit the Porte de Versailles convention centre or the area around convention but it is rather far from the centre of Paris for general tourist activities and sightseeing. Being there for business, I appreciated the wifi access. Although pay-for-access appeared to be available in the room, a small tip - the "default" connection was free.
The only minor oddity (except for the snail-paced elevator) was when I was accosted by a receptionist on returning to the hotel one evening demanding to know my name and room number to confirm that I was a guest. While I appreciate that this level of security is may be welcoming, the manner in which this interrogation was conducted was quite unpleasant. Nevertheless, given the limited number of comparatively inexpensive hotels in the Porte de Versailles region, the Hotel des Provinces offers a safe, secure and reasonable place to spend a few nights but it's not for those wishing close proximity to the tourist sights Paris has to offer!
