I really appreciated this hotel!!! The building isn't so charming from the outside, but inside you have a choco-experience that you'll not forget. The staff is very friendly and helpful regarding informations about bus, the city and so on, and you'll have a choco tablet on your arrival according to the level in which you're staying (milk, nuts, black). The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing, the rooms are spacious and also the bathrooms. For the Umbria Jazz there was a free shuttle bus that took us just in front of the Arena Santa Giuliana, also coming back until 2.50. The thing i liked least was the location, quite far from the city center so we had to take 1 bus to the station and then the mini metro to the city center.

The hotel looks like it belongs to a large chain and so the decor and rooms are fairly bland. However you feel when staying here that they have tried to make an effort to give it a bit of style - from the bar of chocolate at check-in to the choice of having chocolate at breakfast. There is also free internet access in the lobby. It is near the station and quite a walk uphill before you hit the scala mobile to the centre of Perugia. The up side of this is it is fairly easy to find and to get to, if you are driving. It also has parking directly outside the front of the hotel. The parking is not secure but it is opposite reception and on a fairly busy road. There is a sunny rooftop pool but it is overlooked by some flats. The hotel staff were lovely, very efficient and helpful. On reception they had the times of the flights to and from Perugia airport and they will arrange to book an airport minibus in time for your flight if you wish. The hotel is functional, clean and bland it has no exciting views or decor, however the staff are charming and helpful and lift the mood of the whole hotel.

The only positive about this hotel was that the staff was cordial when we told them that we wanted to cancel our remaining reservation after one very uncomfortable night there. The location of this place in not close to the historic part of town. We switched to the elelgant Sangallo Palace Hotel - which gave us a lower rate than the Chocohotel - and was situated in an excellent position in the town of Perugia. The hallways on the floors with the rooms were very dark and narrow. The bedroom was very small and it had two very hard and uncomfortable beds. The flooring was inexpensive commercial carpeting. The night was a torture with lots of traffic from the road below. I hardly slept due to the noise and also the uncomfortable bed and developed some kind of allergic reaction to something in the environment. I was attracted to the hotel because it looked inviting and novel on their website...as soon as we walked in we knew that we made a mistake. While we were there a large busload of tourist came in and overwhelmed the facility. The price of the hotel - 120E is much too high. The breakfast was OK.
