Disappointing. As dull and none worthy as you might wonder, just having a look at the hotel picture appearing on its website. Ugly. Streets around are as plain and un-welcoming as the hotel itself. You don’t have the feeling of being in Venice once you left the Great Channel behind your back, heading for this place. Big contrast with the glorious atmosphere you breathe everywhere else. Even if I stayed just a night I couldn’t help but regret my choice. It declares being a 4*, but don’t believe it. There is nothing about the hotel, none the breakfast, amenities or even staff that worth such rating. I would rather say an average 2* (if they make an additional effort). Double room I requested comprised of two single beds pushed together. There was another bed attached to the walls that makes the space available in the room even smaller. Bathroom un-noticeable. Everything else to forget. It doesn’t worth you to pay a visit, having so many options in Venice. Stay away.

My wife and I stayed here for a night on 6/8/08. We found this hotel to be clean and the staff were very helpful & courteous. The breakfast that was served was excellent! Overall it was a fantastic stay! We would stay here again.

We stayed at the Amadeus 2 nights in May as part of Gate 1 tour, but were supposed to stay in Principe 50 yards away. Amadeus is a poor alternative - owned by the same group as Principe, the owners rate it as 4 star. We then stayed 3 nights in the Principe on our own - there is no comparison - the Principe has better rooms, a restaurant and bar with patio on the Grand Canal, and is in better condidion. The Amadeus had small, old rooms, no real amenities (tho they do have a breakfast room), and an elevator that holds only 2 people (the Principe has 2 that hold 10 each). Booking prices list the difference as only 15 Euros - the Principe is worth far more than that difference.

This hotel is an official italian four star but it clearly deserves only three. For example, two of the four lightbulbs in the bathroom didn't work at our arrival. We asked the desk they change them. We had to ask a second time 24 hours later. Finally, 2 days later they fixed... one lightbulb.
Then we got a room that didn't look like on the site at all.
Also, outside neglected service (although employees are not unpleasant), the hotel, except perhaps the entrance hall, simply doesn't look or feel like a four star.
