We stayed here for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. We booked a great deal through Citalia and we had a charming room at the top of the hotel - no view but we enjoyed the views from the hotel terrace. The staff were very helpful. We contacted them before we left home for advice on how to get there as we were travelling by public transport and they booked us a taxi from Siena station. We caught the bus back on the way home for euro 3.80! Breakfasts were very good - excellent coffee. We ate out - Bacchus, Dal Falco and La Bucca delle Fate - all very good. We would also recommend the Palazzo Picolomini. Pienza is a delightful town and a great place to have a rest or make your base. Altogether a very good choice and possibly the quietist hotel we have ever stayed in at night - very thick stone walls!

Beautiful small hotel in a fantastic location

We stayed at Il Chiostro di Pienza last summer and loved it. We found it friendly, charming and a fantastic base from which to explore the area. Our room, which looked out over the valley, was beautifully furnished and very spacious - the bed was supremely comfortable too. The building is a 15th century convent and the decoration, furnishings etc are carefully chosen to complement its character. The hotel staff are excellent - friendly, welcoming and informative. Whilst there we mislaid the keys of our hire car and they went out of their way to help us sort out the problem. Pienza itself is a gorgeous jewel of a town and although small it has some great places to eat, not least the restaurant at Il Chiostro di Pienza, La Terrazza (eating here is not cheap, but it would be a shame to stay without trying it - definitely recommended). Other good dining venues include the Latte di Luna trattoria (for lovely home cooked food and a fantastic atmosphere) and Il Prato (just outside the pedestrian area). There are also a number of great local produce shops. The setting is scenically perfect, beautiful views from the town walls and it is within easy (driving) reach of places such as Montepulciano and Siena. There is a small pool on the lower terrace below the hotel which, although nice for a quick dip and sunbathe, is not for dedicated sun/pool worshippers (but then that's no surprise, inland Tuscany is more about touring). All in all a fantastic place to stay - we cannot recommend it highly enough.
Beautiful hilltop Pienza

The hotel was nice enough and Pienza was wonderful.
Acouple of issues.
1.The pool was grubby and needed cleaning. Did not venture in.
2.The girl at reception was very pleasant as were most of the staff except one. A silver haired chap around 40 worked one night when we were there. He was extremely unhelpful and rude.
Apart from that the location is splendid and the hotel fine. Pienza is outstandingly beautiful as is some of the neighbouring hilltop towns.
