Okay location, just a short stroll from main promenade and beach. The room we had was smallish but did have 2 double beds. They must give the smaller rooms to internet shoppers as i looked in a few other rooms that were being turned down and they were much larger...so call direct to get a bigger room.
The front desk staff were extremely helpful...

Had a very pleasant long weekend stay at the Mercure.
The hotel's nicely located, 150 yds back from the main promenade at the northern end of Rimini's main beach, which for my money is by far the nicer end of town. There's a good selection of restaurants, bars and shopping very close by, and you have plenty of the standard, well equipped private beaches to choose from.
The hotel's relatively small, with only 50 or so rooms. It's decoration is a touch esoteric, a major homage to Federico Fellini, with lots of 'fresco' type paintings, posters and film memorabilia around. Maybe a bit kitsch, but on the classier side of kitsch !
The room we had was a touch on the small side - two beds that I'd describe as largish singles, rather than doubles. The esoteric decor continued, with a fresco over the beds and striking wall decoration. It came equipped with minibar and multi channel TV. The bathroom was compact too - sink, bidet, no bath, and probably the smallest shower I've ever come across. It was however kept very clean during our stay, in common with the rest of the room.
Stayed on a room and breakfast rate - and the breakfast was the standard continental fare of fruits, cheeses, cold meats, pastries and cereals. A good selection of all, washed down with great coffee.
Hotel staff were very friendly and obliging throughout.
All-in-all, a very reasonable and individual hotel choice in RImini.

In spite of the fact that the superior room was preliminary paid for three night, to us was severe and is boorishly declared, that it is already occupied. Before it it was impudently declared by the headwaiter, that the small room on a ground floor and is what we have paid. Even without apologies and regrets. This tiny room with a smell of damp mustiness neither on the sizes nor on comfort does not deserve more than 1 or 2 *. We were pacified only by that more younger personnel of hotel, correctly having estimated occurred, has showed to us sympathy, apologizing thus for a management of hotel.

We visited Mercure La Gradisca in June 2004, we had previously had a holiday in Rimini at another hotel in June 2002.
I had remembered the hotel from the previous visit, it having a nice location and also looked nice, and found a reasonable price on expedia, so we booked it for a 5 night stay. We were travelling around Italy for 2 weeks, so had a reasonable amount of luggage.
We were allocated a room on the ground floor, with a rather insecure window, twin beds, and no shower curtain. We went back out and stated that the window was not secure and would prefer a double. Eventually we were allocated another room, a TINY double. For a 4* hotel there were far more flaws than there should have been! The tiles in the bathroom weren't grouted completely (only in some areas??) and there were sharp edges on the shower floor (tiles badly cut around plughole), the furniture was old and in need of replacement, the walls were grubby, and the air conditioning was poor - the small room felt stifling!! The mini bar (fridge) wouldn't close properly, was not very cold, and only really served to heat the room up further.
On our return we complained to mercure - about the bad finish on the room, and also the size - for 2 adults for a 5 night stay I found it was unacceptable. We actually had to jam the bathroom door open because it opened inwards awkwardly etc.....we have been offered a 2 night stay at another of their hotels. Hope we have a better experience there!
Also though I would add, the breakfast was not that great - they constantly ran out of fresh orange, and also not much for vegetarians (although I would say this was normal in italy).
The pool was more of a splash pool and only had about 6 chairs - no proper loungers.
I feel we may have been put in some sort of 'budget' room for the booking agency guests!
