Firstly, this hotel is in a great location. It is very central in a leafy green part of town. The only problem is if you drive in (as we did) parking is a real problem and you generally have to pay for any space that you find.
The room itself was clean, but basic and definitely in need of updating. It all looked very 1970s. Also, for a three star hotel the single glazed windows were really not acceptable. We stayed there on Saturday night and wanted an early night. We were kept awake until 3am because even with all the windows closed we could hear every bit of noise from the main street below.
Breakfast was also below par with a very average and somewhat limited buffet display that gives the impression that they are trying to cut corners and save money.
To end on a positive note, the reception staff were very friendly and helped us to locate an indian restaurant in Milan. No mean feat, when everywhere you look it is pizza and pasta!

I stayed at the Hotel Ritter in March this year - after reading some bad reviews on here I was a little dubious. However, after four days here I thought we had really good value for money in a great hotel.
The rooms were lovely and clean and very big. The breakfast was simple continental breakfast with cereals etc - good enough for me!
The location was fab - just two minutes walk from the subway with links to anywhere you would want to go in Milan.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for those travelling on a budget.
If you are going - I would recommend a trip to Lake Como if you have chance - take the train to Como Lago - takes about an hour - great for a day trip!
Enjoy!

This is a great city centre hotel for first time visitors to the city. It is so easy to get to from Central Station (500m from red line Metro Moscova station).
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean comfortable and well maintained. The view wasn't great as our room overlooked the central courtyard. Maid service was everyday whilst we were there. Internet access is in the lobby to double check flight details etc
The Continental breakfast provided was all the usual items of ham, cheese, croissants etc which were fresh and served until 10.30. Neither of us left hungry each morning!
The local area has great local Italian restaurants and we didn't walk very far each night before finding one - and the local area seemed very safe to walk about in at night time.
The Duomo is 10 mins away by Metro (which we found incredibly easy to use) so this hotel although not very central we found it to be a fantastic base to explore the city and would highly recommend to first time visitors.

The location of this hotel was great - a 2 min walk to the train station (Moscova), which was only a short route from the Duomo station, as well as only 2 stops from the station (Cadorna) that has an express train to the airport; it was also a nice area with some restaurants within walking distance. The area also felt very safe. However, the experience with the staff was so terrible that we would never stay here again.
We arrived at 2:10 pm and were rudely told that they would have to check if our room was ready because check in was not until 2pm. We told them it was past 2pm but were still told to sit on the couch in the lobby to wait for our room to be ready. We noticed many unhappy people in the lobby, and it turns out they all were having troubles with checkin too. Apparently the hotel could not find the reservations for a few people, us included, even though we all had copies of our reservations with us. Others had made special requests (e.g. a room with a balcony) which were not being met. After waiting a while for our room, our baby was getting fussy so I went to inquire how much longer the wait would be and the man replied "I don't know, maybe 2 hours" with such a rude tone I could not believe it. Fortunately our room was ready within a few minutes after that.
The room was a decent size, and the bed was very comfortable. No complaints about the room, aside from that it was a bit noisy at night with the nightlife down below.
Upon checkout the next morning, we handed in the key and were told that we needed to pay for the room, even though we already had paid in advance through our travel agent. It was 5:50 am and we had a train to catch but the man would not let us leave, insisting that we had to pay even though he had a copy of our receipt right in front of him. He just kept saying that because they could not find our reservation (which they wouldn't admit was the case the night before) that we had to pay, because they did not have our payment if they did not have our reservation (even though we had our reservation confirmation papers with us too). The doors to the hotel were locked so that we could not get out, so we thought we were going to miss our train because the guy would not let us go. We just kept insisting that we were not going to pay since we already had the credit card charge for our payment, so finally he let us go.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, in case you ended up in the same situation. It seems that they have major problems keeping track of their reservations, or they are trying to scam people into paying twice.
