Enjoyed the hotel. We stayed here for a wedding.
Struggled to get TV to work - sound but no picture - but we didn't have much time in room so no problem and hotel did offer to check it out.
Food and service was great at breakfast.
Wedding and evening reception faultless.
Bathroom very nice - lighting not good according to my girlfriend though!
Nice location and pretty surroundings.

Booked in via work and was very pleased with the hotel as a whole, a curious mix of the old and the new. My bedroom was clean and tidy and had all the amenities including a large LCD TV with DVD player and radio. The bathroom was well appointed On the downside the room was a little noisy as it was a main corridor room and the blinds were pretty ineffectual in the morning.
I found the staff to be very courteous and attentive, the food and wine I felt was a bit expensive so nipped into Cobham for a curry. Breakfast proved to be of a reasonable standard and the bistro was well laid out.
Overall I would recommend this hotel as a good place to stay.

The worst service I have ever received in all my life staying in 4* and 5* hotels.
You are better off staying at the travel lodge or the fairmile in cobham.
At least you get what you pay for there.
Superb hotel, poor service

The rooms are modern and well-appointed, the TV is spectacularly located within a mirror and when you master the remotes, you are in absolute luxury.
The dining/lobby facilities give the impression of stepping back in time. The barman was totally inept, the dining room staff in the main restaurant were not up to standard but the staff in the bistro, who were trainees, outshone their seniors.
Housekeeping left a lot to be desired with our tea and coffee facilities always being forgotten.
The location is very remote and you would definitely need a car. Unless they improve the quality of the staff we will not be returning.

Have just returned from an excellant stay which exceded our expectations. we booked last minute (getting a good price direct) as a business and pleasure trip, whilst visiting a trade show that coincided with our wedding anniversary. arrived late on a sunday night and was initially a little dissapointed with our room (6) as its windows opened onto the fire escape and we had hoped for a view onto the gardens (which are gorgeous by the way) I rang the receptionist and she explained there was a wedding on, so non wedding guests had been put at the far end of the hotel, to get a good nights sleep. turned out it was a very good call, as we had a great nights sleep, and we were grateful for the consideration. The room was well decorated with gorgeous curtains and huge opening windows to let the air in. good shower, good bath, nice tea tray (biscuits and hot choc always score well with me!) we had room service which was prompt, hot and tasty and served with a smile. in the morning we had breakfast in bed, again prompt, with a courtesy call 5 mins before it was delivered. perfectly cooked boiled eggs and nice pastries.
>the next day the receptionist remember my concern and offered to move us. i said that would be lovely as it was our wedding anniversary. within 2 mins 2 glasses of champagne had arrived, and we were being treated to a tour of the hotel and its history! Joe, (whos very passionate about the place - bless), the guest relations manager, showed us around the hotel, and all its different sorts of rooms, telling us all about its past, and the famous people who had slept in the rooms (including oscar wilde) we were then shown to our new room..... WOW. we had the mistresses bedroom, very romantic old room in cool greens and golds, but with all the mod cons like multi jet shower and flat screen tv. We felt very pampered and didnt want to leave the room!.
>dinner in the brasserie was good again, informal atmosphere but with excellant service throughout. we had breakfast there next moring, lovely eggs benedict, and very very good service again, we were late to breakfast but no one made us feel rushed or at all like we were in the way, which many hotels do. after checking out we said we would like a pot of tea and to sit in the gardens and do some paper work before we left. Joe said not to worry it was on him, and treated us to that and a plate of yummy homemade chefs biscuits to finish off with! we would have stayed for lunch if we had had the time!
>through out our entire stay we were treated fabulously by the staff, and we felt more at home than you normally do in a hotel. i think to stay at this hotel and not leave your room is to miss what it has to offer.
yes, in odd areas this hotel would benefit from a lick of paint, and a bit of new carpet, but the service and welcome literally paints over the cracks! it is a beautifully decorated, welcoming old house with true character and staff with real personality.
>i think prehaps you would get a differant experiance depending on the type of room you stay in as some are modern and some are traditonal, and depending on your preferance i would book with that in mind (id go for traditional although i would normally steer clear of that as i hate chintz - no chintz here!)
>i cannot praise the staff highly enough, and personally i run an environment were customer service is key, and would happily employ any of the staff i encountered, based purely on their people skills and attention to detail. well done woodlands park, we will be back!
